what a stellar line up for the upcoming #swat4hcls in #Barcelona! https://www.swat4ls.org/workshops/barcelona2025/programme/
(and I am sad I will not be able to go this year)

@MrHedmad #swat4hcls as a conference ;)
today's #SWAT4HCLS was again exciting! and looking forward to the BioHackathon tomorrow
it's great to see JH's talk about EOL and how far we are with #linkedData and #openScience
Noting this is the 15th #SWAT4HCLS, we have come a long way, and are about to pass the critical mass stage. There is zero reason not to use semantic web technologies as your preferred FAIR platform. You will have to have some extremely convincing arguments not to use semantic web technologies, imho
tip from JH: ecosystems like wetlands are terms very well covered by the ENVO #SWAT4HCLS
Note to self: hook up with the Semantic Climate project! cc @larsgw
#SWAT4HCLS #biohackathon tip: I have a Groovy script that creates #wikidata quickstatements to link journal articles to a "main topic":
groovy findConcepts.groovy -s "Encyclopedia of Life" -q Q82486
JH now moves to the main topic of her keynote, the Encyclopedia of Life (eol.org), which has a #wikidata and @wdscholia page: https://scholia.toolforge.org/topic/Q82486 #SWAT4HCLS
The data model is around a "data record" with links to taxon, life stage, location, sex, reference, measurements.
JH talks us through the #openscience efforts she has been involved in and just gives a shout out to @EvoMRI and a meeting around biodiversity and @wikidata in Berlin #SWAT4HCLS
the first #SWAT4HCLS keynote is Dr. Jennifer Hammock of the USA National Museum of Natural History: https://scholia.toolforge.org/author/Q41566708
the second #SWAT4HCLS day has started. Marco Roos (https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8691-772X) opens the first "conference" day. Introduces the sponsors, the key note speakers, the panelists and panel chair, etc
@egonw@social.edu.nl at the end we got introduced to LinkedPipes ETL, a KNIME/Taverna-like workflow tool to visually convert data files, e.g. CSV via SPARQL Construct to RDF #swat4hcls
AT #SWAT4HCLS #Biohackathon, we are already exploring ways to utilise AI to generate SPARQL queries and curate ontologies. For example, by enriching metadata collection using VOID headers. Can these metadata headers be used to feed data to AI approaches and consume AI results?
The #SWAT4HCLS #Biohackathon started. We have just inspected the co-hacking spaces available for the participants. There is the hack lounge where we can relax and hack and the Biohackathon room where people can claim a table to work.
Ammar shows how to convert nanotoxicology data (cell viability) in the ChEMBL RDF model #SWAT4HCLS
attending Ammar Ammar's tutorial on "Constructing life sciences knowledge graphs with more semantics and less code" https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IgvjGTq1kGAF1KufNd_y-8r5Nsm1RLRP/view?usp=drive_link
We've just covered the ChEMBL RDF sparql endpoint hosted by our group, https://chemblmirror.rdf.bigcat-bioinformatics.org/
I arrived at #SWAT4HCLS and great to see so many friends and colleagues!
@jerven @Andrawaag I understood only later last night and saw it this morning that last year it was already called BioHackathon SWAT4HCLS. I have asked this edition to be added to http://preview.biohackrxiv.org/ too
But it seems there were no reports last year? https://osf.io/preprints/biohackrxiv/discover?q=SWAT4HCLS
I will be around to answer #BioHackrXiv and CiTO questions
Isn't it awesome to have a hackathon on a day that actually hacks the calendar year? #SWAT4HCLS
reading up on the #swat4hcls program and when I have to jump into action. Monday: two workshops. Thursday: hacking on the @wikipathways FAIR Data Point. And somewhere, there are poster sessions. Hope to see you in Leiden this week! Full program at https://www.swat4ls.org/workshops/leiden2024/programme/ #rdf #wikidata #sparql #linkedData
@Andrawaag will people be invited to write BioHackrXiv reports? #swat4hcls
