@therightarticle ‘Tax and spend’ is a classic case of accusing others what the ultra rich do, to get their benefits. From Regan and Thatcher, and now to Trump’s ‘Big beautiful bill’ it has always been the lie that keeps on giving to the growth in inequality and injustice. Low and middle incomes are paying the ultimate price, not just in taxes and inflation, but by job insecurity, censorship, terror laws, arms races, endless terror, genocide and war on the back of weaponising race, immigration and discrimination. Letting oligarchs investment in the extremist ideology of fascist cults and their programme of ecocide pay off for them, will if not defeated, have truly terrifying consequences! #LiarsTruth #TheBigLie #EmpiresTaxAndSpend #OligarchsLies #UltrasTaxAndSpend #TheBigUglyLiars #OligarchsTotalitarians #TaxAndSpend

I am often baffled by a mainstream media establishment that has learned the phrase "every accusation is a confession" by rote, but continues to report on TrumpWorld Republican efforts to transform US public education into a fascist indoctrination factory as if it were a parental rights, or religious liberty issue. These folks are openly and blatantly turning the odious and reactionary belief cluster around Trump's cult of personality into enforced reality, and while they probably can't convince *you* that up is down and fascism is freedom, they're determined to make sure that's the only reality your kids ever know.

I wrote about a recent example of this indoctrination project in action on NIDC, while examining the recent news that noted fundie fascist ideologue Ryan Walters has passed education standards that attempt to force teachers in Oklahoma to present Trump's 2020 election conspiracies (aka The Big Lie) as factual analysis.

Nina-Bytes: Poisoning the Well

"Folks who aren’t familiar with politics in Oklahoma or unhinged fascist cultists who worship Trump may not be familiar with state school superintendent Ryan Walters, but calling him an “ideologue” really doesn’t cover how entirely committed he is to Christian Nationalist ideology and the Trump regime’s enforced unreality. This is the guy behind Oklahoma’s wasteful and corrupt attempted purchase of Trump-branded Bibles, as well as a Project 2025-style plan to restore “religious education” to Oklahoma public schools. He’s also a big proponent of new innovations in trying to make state taxpayers support religious charter schools that will presumably teach Christian Nationalist doctrine. As the article notes, in addition to teaching the Big Lie as fact in Oklahoma schools, Walters also wants to teach kids that Covid came from a lab in China and “remove education about Black Lives Matter and George Floyd’s murder,” just in case you were worried he might not be racist enough. In other words, it’s safe to say that indoctrinating kids with horrifying reactionary ideas that support an objectively fascist agenda is Ryan’s jam."

Cratering in the polls, and losing left right and center in court, the Trump regime spent this week scrambling to install a permanent fascist order before the peasants show up on the National Mall with pitchforks; and we wrote about it all in this week's The Skinny.

ninaillingworth.com/2025/05/07

The Skinny: Building A Patchwork Enabling Act

"I confess that on some level it’s probably amusing to picture Trump sitting in front of a TV and getting big mad when it tells him Black and trans people exist, he shouldn’t bully overweight people, and the abortion bans he facilitated are hurting American women. The reality here however is that in signaling what the president doesn’t want to see in publicly-funded media, he’s effectively articulating a Christian Nationalist agenda. As we’ve discussed numerous times on this blog, the regime is not just fighting a material war to install a fascist dictatorship in our society; they’re also fighting an authoritarian cultural war on our discourse, our history, and who is allowed to matter in our media entertainment complex. The ideological headcage Trump is trying to use state power to enforce here, is just as important to the Trumpenrich project to create a white ethnostate dictatorship under the Kelpto Kaiser, as its material expansion of the American fascist police state is."

I must confess that I do not like a modern political media environment where every deranged thing Trump posts on Truth Social has to be considered relevant news, but when Downmarket Mussolini uses openly fascist propaganda to push his 2020 Election conspiracy, aka "The Big Lie,' while simultaneously demanding the Department of Justice free a convicted co-conspirator in the pro-Trump far right's plot to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 election, you kind of have to pay attention to that one.

huffpost.com/entry/tina-peters

Trump Demands Release Of Election Denier ‘Hostage’ Convicted By Colorado Jury

"In a Truth Social post Monday night, Trump referred to Peters’ prosecution as “a Communist persecution by the Radical Left Democrats to cover up their Election crimes and misdeeds in 2020.” He attacked Colorado’s Democratic attorney general, Phil Weiser, and demanded the Justice Department “take all necessary action to help secure the release of this ‘hostage’ being held in a Colorado prison by the Democrats, for political reasons.”

Trump said Peters, who he called an “innocent Political Prisoner,” had “worked to expose and document Democrat Election Fraud” — repeating his yearslong lie that he didn’t actually lose the 2020 election but, rather, was the victim of an impossibly complex, nationwide fraud scheme.

What Peters actually did — while working as the elected county clerk in Mesa County, Colorado — was allow a computer analyst associated with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell into a secure in-person software update for the county’s election machines, in yet another unsuccessful effort to sow doubt about Joe Biden’s 2020 win.

The analyst, former pro surfer and RVCA founder Conan Hayes, attended the software update, using the name and recently issued office badge of a Mesa County local. Images of the update process, known as a trusted build, were later shared online and at a 2021 “symposium” on the 2020 election results hosted by Lindell — around the same time state officials arrived at the Mesa County clerk’s office to investigate."

I don't want to rehash the Trump cult's 2020 election denial schemes, but Tina Peters is the former clerk in Mesa County, Colorado who engineered an elaborate plot to let some yahoo connected to billionaire Trump-humping conspiracy crank Mike Lindell have access to voting machines during a software update meeting; she wasn't charged for he political beliefs, or even election denial, she's literally in jail for helping some fashy rando access voting machines illegally by impersonating an employee with clearance to access the machines, and lying about it to get him inside. Naturally, the Trump regime fucking loves this lady and I'm assuming the only reason she wasn't already pardoned by Trump is that she was convicted under Colorado state law and thus a federal pardon does her no good. As the article notes, the Department of Justice *has* gone as far as inserting itself in a highly political and partisan way in Peters' ongoing appeals process.

What's more interesting to me here however, is examining Trump's Truth Social post in the proper context; specifically as a piece of fascist propaganda that is disturbingly reminiscent of narratives manufactured by the German Nazi Party during Hitler's rise to power.

The depiction of Peters as a courageous political prisoner unjustly being punished for merely stating her belief that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump, which is in and of itself a piece of false fascist propaganda often referred to in the media as "the big lie" in a nod to statements by Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels, is extremely reminiscent of interwar period Nazi propaganda about the purported persecution of violent Nazi street activists convicted of breaking German laws to further Hitler's cause. The portrayal of Peters' prosecution as a vast political conspiracy, and the conflation of Trump's milquetoast center right opposition with a "radical" (and presumably dangerous) left is also pretty much exactly how the Nazis portrayed efforts to hold them accountable on their way to absolute power. Finally, while I'm sure the inclusion of "Communist" will be shrugged off by most observers as Trump doing drunk grandpa Bircher things, I think it's much more likely given the context of the rest of the message, that this is a fascist dog-whistle to the nazi conspiracy theory known as "cultural marxism" - in which pretty much everyone opposed to them from equality activists, to "liberal" capitalist political figures, are all part of a gigantic Marxist (read: Jewish) plot to undermine America, capitalism, and "the white race."

Look, I get that Trump is absolutely not a student of Joey Goebbels and Nazi propaganda techniques; it's obvious that someone in the regime is feeding him these ideas. And since these ideas are objectively Nazi shit, I'm going to assume its Stephen Miller.

Well, if you were expecting the cybersecurity industry to respond any better to Trump using government access to target one of its firms, than Big Law did, I suspect you're going to be disappointed:

reuters.com/world/us/cybersecu

Cybersecurity industry falls silent as Trump turns ire on SentinelOne

"Krebs' speech was followed by applause then, but Reuters found little sign of industry support for Krebs or SentinelOne as they face Trump now.

Katie Moussouris, founder of Luta Security, said she doubted the industry would publicly back SentinelOne given the White House's actions.

"I don't think it's feasible for cybersecurity companies to have a broader response on this," she said. "The risk is just too high."

Reuters contacted 33 of the largest U.S. cybersecurity companies, including tech companies and professional services firms with large cybersecurity practices, and three industry groups, for comment on Trump's action against SentinelOne.

Only one offered comment on Trump's action. The rest declined, did not respond or did not answer questions."

We kind of touched on this story already in another thread, but the short version is that Trump is using federal security clearances to damage a company called SentinelOne, for employing Chris Krebs - a former Trump official who balked at supporting Der Leader's "big lie" that the 2020 election is stolen. This is petty revenge, and a warning shot to everyone else in the industry that Trump can come after them if they displease him; but it's also about making the conspiracy theory that Joe Biden stole the 2020 election part of official regime policy and punishing anyone who disputes that with the full force of the DoJ and federal government.

On one hand, this isn't as big a story as Trump conscripting DC's biggest law firms via executive order, or the Yarvinite quest to have the regime literally seize control of higher education institutions via false claims about fighting antisemitism. What it is however, is a demonstration that Trump's success in those endeavors so far has emboldened him to extend his reach, and provided him with a successful model for how to use his power as POTUS to enforced ideological conformity, and assert direct control over portions of the private sector. As long as everyone stays silent, surrenders, or worse: openly collaborates, there's really no reason to believe he's going to stop doing this any time soon.

One of the stranger things about analyzing Downmarket Mussolini's fascist executive orders is the way folks around me are always prepared to write off some of the most dangerous things Der Leader tries to do as mere "petty vindictiveness." Take for example Trump's recent executive orders targeting a law firm that sued Fox News for spreading lies about an electronic voting machine company, and two former members of his previous administration - a DHS official who refuted Trump's blatantly false claims that the 2020 election was rigged for Joe Biden, and a whistleblower he's accusing of Espionage Act violations and has accused of treason in the past. Is this about revenge for our (not so) beloved tangerine tyrant? Of course, but particularly in the first two cases, this is also about establishing Der Führer's "Big Lie" about the 2020 election being rigged against him, as the only officially sanctioned truth the government, and by extension its judiciary branch, should recognize.

First up we have the president signing an executive order designed to punish Susman Godfrey for forcing the Trump regime's quasi-official state news outlet, Fox, to settle with Dominion Voting Systems after they spent literally months openly broadcasting fascist conspiracy theories about the 2020 election (that Trump lost) being rigged:

theguardian.com/us-news/2025/a

Trump signs order targeting law firm behind $787.5m Fox defamation suit

"Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday punishing the law firm that helped Dominion Voting Systems obtain a $787.5m settlement from Fox for lies about the 2020 election.

The order against the firm, Susman Godfrey, marks the latest effort by the president to punish attorneys and firms who have opposed his interests.

The order seeks to harm the firm by limiting its attorneys from accessing government buildings, revoking security clearances and essentially making it impossible for it to represent anyone who has business before the federal government."

Like a lot of Trump's efforts to punish or intimidate law firms, this blatantly unconstitutional executive order is mostly about trying to put Susman Godfrey out of business by denying them access to the federal government, and the courtrooms it controls. What's telling here is that Trump isn't even trying to make the argument that the firm broke any laws, or violated any rules; no reason for the executive order was given, and the president has only said
"there were some very bad things that happened with these law firms,” because Trump hasn't found a valid excuse for this ideological policing and he's not ready to just up and admit he's trying to take out his perceived political enemies for A) disputing conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and B) forcing his friends at Fox to pay for its libelous claims about Dominion.

Which then brings us to Trump's blatantly authoritarian use of the DoJ to target two of his political "enemies" that served in his administration, but spoke out against the regime and in Krebs's case, actively debunked "The Big Lie" Trump has been telling about the 2020 election being rigged against him since it happened:

theguardian.com/us-news/2025/a

Trump orders DoJ to investigate duo who debunked claims of election fraud

"Donald Trump’s persecution of critics intensified on Wednesday when he ordered the justice department to investigate a whistleblower and a cybersecurity director who refuted unfounded claims of election fraud.

The US president signed memorandums targeting Miles Taylor and Chris Krebs, former homeland security officials who served in the first Trump administration."

Look my friends, I'm not expecting you to find much sympathy for a Big Law firm rolling in filthy lucre, or two former fascist collaborators that are now finding out the leopards will indeed eat their faces, but in this situation the "who" of this story, is far less important than the "what." What Trump is doing here is weaponizing the US government to punish folks for contradicting his "enforced unreality" surrounding the 2020 election, and let me assure you that there are a lot of people in the judiciary, legal profession, and media who have gone on record saying that Trump's claims where baseless (fascist) conspiracy theories, so that isn't just a question of the president arguing with the experts about some bullshit he picked up on Fox News. Furthermore, Trumps actions ultimately seek to make his enemies, the enemies of the United States government; this is a classic sign of a state sliding into an authoritarian dictatorship and thus cannot be dismissed as Trump simply being a petulant vengeful manchild.

Smoke em if you got em, because if Trump gets away with this, we're through the looking glass and his every utterance becomes our new reality.
