Timewasting Fee Update: December 2025
With effect from 01/12/2025 the fee for wasting the time of Court Guinness will be set to £50,000 per hour per instance or part thereof with the exception of United Kingdom Police Officers, the fee for time wasting by United Kingdom Police Officers will rise to £100,000 per hour per instance or part thereof
Remember this is billable to the individual or in the case of a company to the individual employee or individuals at their home address or addresses.
Reading and responding to an email for example in the same hour is two (2) instances and the £50,000 or £100,000 bill will go to each recipient at their home. In the case of a police officer a Chief Officer may be chosen by Court Guinness to bear the bill instead.
All invoices that are not paid within 7 days are passed to a debt collection team to enforce. Enforcement can include personal bankruptcy.
Interest accrues from day 7 of late payment.
Interest charges and other additional charges are updated on a regular basis and the latest interest rates can be found on this site.

I am not a Luddite (I mean, I was programming computers in the 1970s, so...¯\_(ツ)_/¯) but I can appreciate how the freedom that comes from disconnecting is no longer possible in the modern world.
(By the way, the Luddites get a bad rap. Look it up.)
So I'm not anti-technology and I'm not even really against #socialmedia. But I do recognize how easy it is to lose hours a day to interacting online and I wonder what it is I would have been doing without that?

Not sure why I so often reinvent the wheel. I'm sure there's a formal solution to this, but instead of searching for that I coded a simulation of the distribution of the number of tries it would take, guessing randomly, to get 100% on a quiz if you had unlimited retries.
Edit: Pretty sure this is a problem for the negative binomial or a closely related distribution... maybe I should learn more about the negative binomial distribution.
Writing a pitch for a web-based 'quantum' kaleidoscope, visualising data from a simulated quantum circuit. Put together a proof of concept using classical random walks and it came together surprisingly easily. Hard to get any work done now as I keep staring at it:
