Brain no work! What is the service where you throw it an X (Twitter) address and it lets you read it without having an X login?

Like xtwitter or xitter or something. For the life of me I can't remember and searches for "twitter proxy" are leading me nowhere.

@smitten
Probably not what you mean but messages from the future are the plot driver in "Thrice Upon A Time" by James P. Hogan.*

And you might want to read through the TV Tropes entries for "Ominous Message from the Future."

I have searched for this and can never find it. It's a sci fi story where there's a device that receives signals from the future. they're short, like a journal entry. people receive them and dutifully record them in their journal thinking it can't be changed or whatnot. but the ending implies that the people operating the technology are messing with the signals or lying about it. has anyone read this?

edit - I think the device is related to astronomy, there's maybe a star that is running in reverse time and we can bounce the signal off of it in order to receive it before it's sent.

edit 2 - It's "The Hundred-Light-Year Diary" by Greg Egan, thanks

I am looking for the name of a book that was used at school while I am growing up, but I only recall part of the plot. The plot involved a few African American children who went to live with a relative in mid 20th century America. The relative had some connections to the Black Panthers, and the children were ostracized in public at times, one time for picking out a large chicken from a store. I don't have any other details to go off of here. Does anyone recognize what book this is?

I need a descriptive word for a URL-safe identifier (could also be a social media handle). This is to go on a form UI, internally the field is called `slug`.

Things that aren't right:

* "slug": meaningless to non-devs, slimy
* "username": the thing in question isn't a user
* "login": nobody is logging in to anything
* "handle" almost as obscure as slug but with a cyberpunk garnish

Any ideas? There's something on the #TipOfMyTongue but I can't quite get there...

I've been trying to remember the name & author of a short story that I read online last year -- I think it was linked via a fediverse post! The plot described residents of a city neighborhood coping with the aftermath of a widespread disaster (national or global, I don't remember), which disrupted access to power and other services. Growing food, generating power (by bicycle), finding essential supplies, defending from raiders. Neighbors helping neighbors with any skills they possess.

I really enjoyed it and would like to find it again. I've scoured my toot and browser history without turning it up. Boosts appreciated! (This is appropriate for /r/TipOfMyTongue, but I avoid posting to Reddit these days.)

So I’m trying to think of a song. The music is stuck in my head, but I can’t remember any of the lyrics except maybe “just a touch of your hand” before the drop. I think I heard it was used in a Uk Christmas supermarket commercial years ago. (I think it was that year’s emotionally manipulative commercial.) It was sort of Coldplay-esque in a way. Is that enough for anyone to figure out what I’m talking about? #TipOfMyTongue

edit: solved it. Got lyric wrong. Not surprising music is the stand out.

Can’t seem to find an article I read a few years ago about a business that was trying to revive calling cards (visiting cards, not the telephone payment cards). The cards were minimalist and black. The article was in The NY Times or The New Yorker or something like that. Can you find it?

Looking for the name of a surreal sci-fi movie similar in art style I believe to Fantastic Planet. I recall a bunch of scientists in some kind of airship.
