My partner brought home a cute but immensely frustrating English-language toddler board book from the library the other day. Part of a series basically about how to be polite if you want stuff.
(I don't want to be more specific as I think it's a perfectly good book, just symptomatic of a cultural difference. But it probably isn't hard to guess the book.)
Reminds me again that 99% of toddler books from major English-language publishers are either TV show tie-ins or "educational" in some way. Or both.
Meanwhile most of the Swedish toddler books we have (except one about "stopp! min kropp!" i.e. what to do if someone touches you without your consent) are focussed on fun and play.
