At the monthly Peretz Centre dinner last night they played this documentary The Anarchist Lunch (2023) by Rachel Epstein, about her father Norman Epstein and his circle of mostly men, mostly UBC profs who met for Chinese food and to talk about politics every thursday since the late 80s. it's partly about lifelong activism and partly about male friendship and aging.

Turns out the latest issue of the UBC alumni magazine is pretty good. Not only does it look at Tronald Dump destroying American democracy, but I learned that having a hometown boy on your NHL team increases attendance at each home game by 12k and brings in an additional $4.8M of revenue annually (page 57). The things that they “research” at university these days. 😀
