This #Quansheng #UV5K with an external antenna seems to work pretty well as an #analog #scanner - I hear a lot of stuff on the #FRS frequencies.... More business stuff the. I would have thought. I am just not sure where these businesses are because I am sitting in a residential area waiting on the grandkid to get out of school.
I am kind of close to a highway so I thought maybe I might be able to hear something from truckers but so far cb seems dead around here.

The BK4819 chip in the #Quansheng #UV5K radio DOES work on #23cm.
Just hitting filters (noise lump is from the UHF PA chain running full throttle on noise).
Glorious -60dBm on 1297.500MHz!
A whole 0.000001mW of it!
This beats the -75dBm we got from rtl_trx on 1270MHz (aberfoot unmodified rtl-sdr stick used as a trasnceiver).
I even worked OH3HMU on 1270MHz with an rtl-sdr stick So the power is kainda usable.
