@on7fd @on5zo I see this as an advantage both for the indivdual member and the fediverse as a whole. The more people get #veritied, the more difficult it will be for fake accounts and fake news and the more people can trust the #fediverse and #mastodon.

Amateurradio is an interesting case as most hams are member of their national #amateurradio society and these societies are well known (#uba, #darc, #rsgb, #veron ...) so this provide a good "root of trust" for fediverse verification.
