기능만 볼 때는 가격 인상만큼 '이 정도는 해주어야지' 싶었는데, VVF 구매자에게 '이 마저도 안 해주는구나' 싶다.
VCF Installer는 VVF의 연계 구성을 도와주지만, 일회성에 그친다. 9.0으로의 업그레이드 기능을 아직 없다.
VVF의 배포와 기능 제약 수준이 vSphere 단독 라이선스와 별 차이가 느껴지지 않는 점으로 미뤄볼 때, 라이선스 Enterprise가 Enterprise Plus로 흡수됐던 것처럼 vSphere 전체가 vSphere Foundation 흡수되려나?

VMware vDefend Firewall: Security Services Platform 5.0.
General Availability.
VMware NSX의 보안 기능을 담당하고 있는 Security Intelligence가 이름을 바꾸고 배포 과정을 개선하였다.
기존에는 고객이 이미 쿠버네티스 환경을 갖추고 있다는 전제 하에 Helm 차트 파일을 올려 자동 배포하도록 되어 있었다.
엔터프라이즈 고객이 오히려 쿠버네티스를 갖추지 못했거나, VMware 환경과 완전 분리된 바닐라 쿠버네티스 데이터 센터를 신규 구축한 경우가 많아 무상으로 제공되는 기능 임에도 활용 고객이 적었다.
이를 개선하고자 Security Services Platfom을 미니 서비스 아키텍처로 별도 내놓았나 싶다.
이제는 인스톨러가 플랫폼의 라이프사이클을 관리한다. 플랫폼은 제품을 관리한다.
개인용 VMware Cloud Foundation 라이선스 128코어 발급받는 방법.
1. VMUG Advantage Membership 자격을 취득한다. (연 210 USD 지불 또는 vExpert 자격 취득)
2. VCP-VCF 또는 VCP-VVF 시험 통과하여 공인 자격을 취득한다. (시험 시마다 250 USD, VMUG Advantage Membership 연 1회 50% 할인)
다시 말해, 연 2번 심사하는 VMware 사용 후기 정보 공유한 블로거로 선정된 후에 이를 활용해 쿠폰으로 125 USD 내고 시험에 합격하면 가장 저렴하게 개인용 VCF 라이선스를 쓸 수 있다.

VMware Data Services Manager 2.1.1 업그레이드 문제
DSM 2.1.x에서 2.2.x 넘어가려면 최소 2.1.2여야 한다.
그런데 DSM 2.1.1에 업그레이드 불가한 번들을 스테이지할 경우, 다른 번들을 스테이지할 수 없어 업그레이드가 불가능해지는 문제가 있다.
예상되는 해결책은 셸에서 스테이지 디렉터리를 삭제하고 구성 파일을 수정하는 것.
업그레이드 번들의 언스테이지를 위한 KB가 없으니 Support Request가 필요해보인다.
SDDC Manager가 NSX 업그레이드 명령을 제대로 못 내려서 스스로 진행을 못하여 수동으로 거들어줬더니, 업그레이드 마친 NSX를 인식 못해 데이터 센터 전체의 업데이트가 멈추었을 때.
솔루션 관리 특성상 단독 제품의 업그레이드 절차를 변형 시키면 문제해결이 어려워지므로, SDDC Manager는 가져온 정보를 기반으로 트리거만 해줄 것으로 예상할 수 있다.
KB 2 개를 모두 수행해주면 중복 업데이트 시도로 인한 에러를 지나치고 호스트 업데이트를 진행할 수 있다.

After Broadcom acquired VMware, understanding the cost implications of licensing became crucial, especially after so many changes in the product line, licensing structure and other requirements surrounding licensing. To help myself, I created an indicative VMware licensing calculator based on the guidelines provided in the VMware Knowledge Base article 95927 and VMware’s latest product guide, which can be found here.

The Calculator Logic
The first step in using the calculator is to select the product, choosing between VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware vSphere Foundation, or VMware vSphere Standard. Default prices per core per year are set but can be changed. Next, the user needs to enter the host configuration by inputting the number of hosts, CPUs per host, and cores per CPU. These inputs determine the total number of cores that need to be licensed. The calculator then ensures that each CPU has at least 16 core licenses by comparing the total cores with the minimum required cores (16 per CPU).
Subscription costs are calculated by multiplying the required core subscriptions by the price per core per year and determining the costs for different durations: 1 year, 3 years, and 5 years. Finally, the vSAN capacity entitlement is determined based on the product; for VCF, the entitlement is 1 TiB per core license, while for VVF, the entitlement is 100 GiB per core license.
