"How do I write better dialogue?"" is one of the most common questions I hear, particularly from early-career writers.

Today (March 10) at 2 PM ET, I'm teaching a 2-hour class on how to write compelling dialogue, both verbal and non-verbal. We'll explore how to convey on the page all sorts of dialolgue, including words, body language, tone of voice, and societal context.

My first drafts follow lines of eye contact through the dialogue. Where people are looking (or not looking) is usually rather important to me.

But it gets repetitive. Sometimes, I have to stand up and try my best to method act my way through a scene. Ridiculous, but the details that come to me are usually worth it.
