@unattributed weird it just let me (on a book i uploaded and downloaded previously - so this is not the first download). i did get the html file, but also a folder containing the epub and cover image. not sure what is going on.

@unattributed if using android os id highly suggest moon+ reader (pro). Been using it since it came out. Pairs nicely with calibre and Gutenberg press

Once again asking people to use Actual Names spelled correctly so filters can pick them up.

@tsyum I'm quite fond of TICKTICK (available on Web, WIN, IOS, MAC, ANDROID) is task/calendar management. Bonus for also covering Habit track (separate from tasks) and also can make actual notes. Allows for tagging, some themes (light and dark and a few others depending on device) and limited google/ical integration (read only and 2way sync) free level has almost everything, the subscription is less than 3 US$. hope maybe this might be something at least close to what your looking for.

Just an FYI. If you are dealing with spambots DMing you, you can easily stop their attempts.

Go to your settings, then Notifications, and under "Other Notification Settings", check the box for "Block direct messages from people you don't follow".

Still learning how this all works. Not great at social media in general. Previously found with the same handle on the birdsite, @ascheryn.bsky.social and several other instances (weirder.earth and neurodifferent.me specifically).

@ratcatcher correct, they will get a notification when your new account follows them. So i agree its not as smooth as the migrate, but everyone that gets the notifs can just refollow. again not a full smooth transition, but its how i keep this account (mastodon(dot)social) "synced" with following etc with my (neurodifferent(dot)me) account. again not a full solution but a stop gap until whatever is not working properly over there is fixed.

@ratcatcher you can go into your neurodiff account settings/import and export/ data export. download (no waiting) your follows/bookmarks/lists/mutes/etc. once you have all the ones you want, go into your new account, same except go to IMPORT. select each thing you downloaded (so follows for ex) point it at your newly downloaded file and tell it to MERGE instead of overwrite.

doesnt solve issue of people following back but, will get you everyone you followed/blocks/lists on the old account

Everyone is connected together across apps and platforms in the Fediverse. I can surf the #Fediverse with multiple cool software & platforms, yet I can keep my friends & connections. I no longer lose everything when I use new Fediverse platforms as well or instead in the future.

they're ingrained in our culture

they're not censorship, but rather consent

they allow someone to decide if they wanna engage with your post, and if so on what terms

they're a courtesy, and you have legiterally no reason to not use them as much as possible

they're one of the best features mastodon has

think of it like a subject line or a title for your post

you're MORE LIKELY to get "engagement" if you use them right

Search is different on Mastodon 🔎 You can't just search for a specific word or phrase. And that is a conscious design choice.

You can ONLY search for:
#️⃣ Hashtags
🙋 Usernames
🌐 URLs (of users or specific posts)

This helps combat harassment and users being targeted for their toots. It helps foster a safe space 🤗

If you do want to talk openly on a topic, use a hashtag! Or join a discussion happening on your feeds. But most importantly, stay safe #mastotips #feditips

Some quick #Mastodon tips for the #TwitterMigration crew.

1. To DM someone click on the 🌎icon when you bring up the message editor. You also have other options like sending messages to only your followers.
2. Toots = Tweets
3. Boost = Retweet
4. Birdsite = Twitter
5. There is no Quote Toot with comment. This is by design. Mastodon is much less stressful IMO than the birdsite.
