@purplepadma Goodness! Well, sounds like the best decision. For me, I had a very late night/early morning, 2 hours sleep unfortunately, so not functioning well today, hence playing on here when I should be doing mahi or work.

I hope you have a great rest of your week... I need to get off my butt and get into the day, its 9.30am here already and all I have done is drink coffee and put lunch on to cook while the day is relatively cool - it's been getting up around 27C lately here, too hot for me.

Yesterday I was part of a group that peacefully protested the expansion of a coal mine in Germany. We were kettled by police and then detained but were let go later that evening.

@Br3nda Now that is an interesting concept! I can tell you that right now we are so thankful that my specialist suggested years ago that it would help my hormone cancer if I laid off meat, the money it has saved us has been astounding and right now we could not actually afford it. I really feel for people who won't/can't give it up, I guess it's one of the things you CAN eat... hope your frozen shipment works out well!

@KiffinEileen Me too, kind of... have a tablet, not kindle, I use it in bed as my muscles don't allow me to hold a book for long in that position. I aroha reading in the bath with a book sitting under my chin and a good strong coffee!!

I must also look up F. Scott Fitzgerald's other stories on e-book that I have not read, we watched a series about his life, was quite fascinating actually.

Hope you had happy holidays. X

If you’re planning end-of-the-year donations, please consider supporting the conservation of some 8,000 children' shoes that testify about the fate of the youngest victims of Auschwitz.

Mōrena, More beauty to start the day. Albertine flowers once and for a long time. Hardy and a favourite. There was a large bush of this on the way to school when I was young. I would stop to smell the apple-y fragrance. Got to watch the thorns though. Great fence jumper deterrent. Have a happy day!

Sweet smallish old fashioned roses in pink apricot clusters with bright pink buds that smell of apple. These on a backdrop of their small bright green leaves and bronze ones too. It’s name is Albertine and it is prickly.

Introductions are in order, I understand.

I helped create Evil Mad Scientist, where we make small batch locally produced artisanal drawing machines.

For fun, I roast coffee, do astronomy outreach, and post cat pictures.

I have been called the "fairy godmother of making" and "ultimate reference librarian for matters maker, scientific, and technical."

@TheMooreLab We luckily didn't have many of those drama's. We drew up a contract, which said we would act like adults if said teenager acted like the adult they wished to be treated as... basically, they paid some expenses if working, helped with chores, treated us with respect, or they didn't and had to find their own way. Nothing is free in life, we figured teach them early. Now very well adjusted 20+ and have better paying job than dad, so we did something right! Good luck, tough years those.

@Br3nda And in comparison, my sis-in-law and her hubby bought a long way from their work, in a flash new suburb, a fancy huge house then couldn't afford to pay for it, it went up on mortgagee sale and they still owe money on top of that... so screwed for life basically. All because they had to have more than they could afford, to keep up with their mates. We've thankfully never been like that. If we can't afford it, we don't get it! Home fully furnished with 2nd hand or OP's junk furniture, lol.

@Br3nda Its really tough aye, hubby lost 3K, but as he said when he went through it, he has got 7K out of it before now, so can't really complain, as overall it is far better than 2% if you are lucky at the bank, and then the temptation to spend (well for him anyway). Mine has still grown significantly since we used to buy our first house 10 odd years ago & I've not even put a cent in since years before that, so still on a win too... but aroha mai to hear your's took such a dive, heartbreaking.X

@explorergrace@mastodon.nz They sure do!! And tautoko for all that, appreciated it. Kia ora, yes funding is so awesome to have achieved. Next step is that now those involved as stakeholders are looking at trying to secure premises, so that is more exciting again, but also more funding needed... does it ever end?! Probably not in this field.

Wishing you a Meri Kirihemete and happy holidays and also an even better 2023.

@Br3nda I guess that all depends on where one chooses to live or what one chooses to live in... for us, housing is our lowest expense. Were fortunate enough 4 years ago to pick up a derelict villa for $50K cash (all we got out of the sale of our 1st KiwiSaver bought property from 3 years earlier), only 200m from my makau's mahi and livable as weren't fussy, just wanted a cheap roof over our heads... and managed to make sanitary JUST before we got reported to council for living in an unsafe home!

It's been a crazy busy and emotionally draining couple of weeks starting with RCI hearing, then the fallout from that. Taking up the offer of more counseling as think it might be the time for it.

Also doing Christmas prep for promotions of the town i'm writing the early history of, for the upcoming 150th... with having made up their 2023 calendars, but they are selling well. AND, got funding for my two community projects... So can be proud of that at least. Lets hope next year's less stressful!

Photo of a calendar of Ōtautau Township for 2023. Top part of photo shows Thos. Blackwood's property "Kinloch" in a pencil drawing from 1883, at the bottom left the back page of the calendar has 12 small pics of each months images and on the bottom right, the front page of the calendar has a B & W Photo of the 1913 flood, with "On the road to 150 Years" and thank you for supporting our fundraising for this event.

I’ve been reading about the medications we gave babies years ago.
Gripewater was 3% alcohol, at the recommended dose for baby it was equivalent to 8 tots of whisky for an 80kg adult! Today’s gripewater is alcohol free
