I heard the storm roll in at 5am. Heavy thunder and lightning flashes that lit up the window in the darkness. 11 seconds, 8 seconds apart. Usually a storm would lull me back to sleep but I lay paralysed with fear that it would wake our young dog up and I’d have to take her in the garden in the torrential rain. I didn’t sleep until it stopped. Amazingly, Dogface slept through the entire thing. Her barks woke me up at 6.30am, just as I was dreaming about a 17 year old shop dog called Infalude. In the dream my astonished partner said that Infalude was a violent, ancient religion that died out and the name was bad luck. The dog would die. I reminded him the dog was 17 years old. Oh yeah, he replied. At which point, I was woken by Dogface. In the real world, I can find no meaning for Infalude. There’s a vermicelli pudding called Faluda. Maybe I should seek it out. #storm #dream #breakfast #coffee

Despite my best efforts to avoid it, I’m coming down with the household cold. A coffee in bed, get ready and then take the hound out for an earlier walk than normal, before this thing hits me like a ton of bricks.
