What I love about my cover artist's process is that she reads the book (or whatever you give her) before she begins her work.

As such, I just sent her the manuscript for book four! Our collaboration begins on January 16, and I absolutely cannot WAIT to see how this one turns out. I have no doubt it will be beyond fabulous. 🤩

@troublewithwords I write with pen and paper first, then transcribe to Word later. I find pen-and-paper to be more relaxing and intuitive while writing my first draft.

@DavidBridger Good point. I'm not sure what style my punctuation is. My basic understanding of sentence structure is to not write them too long, and to use commas for pauses. That way, if someone reads my stories out loud, they won't be out of breath. 😆 In that regard, I believe a basic knowledge of punctuation is important.

#WritersCoffeeClub November 27: Do you prefer writing serialised, sequential, or standalone works? Why?

Not being entirely sure what we mean by sequential vs. serialised, probably none of the above but leaning slightly toward sequential. I like writing multiple stories in the same setting. Maybe they happen in a particular order, maybe it doesn't matter so much. I can explore more of the setting through additional stories without feeling like I've got a bunch of head canon that's never getting shared with anyone.

@EveHasWords My trilogy was done unintentionally. It was only supposed to be a short story, but the more I got into it, the more fun (and longer) it became. I even began making illustrations for each book, which was challenging, but also quite enjoyable too!

[P] It's sincerely concerning how large a body of readers have difficulty separating out setting and story. These two things are not the same. I saw a recent discussion on whether things should be dragged out or wrapped up and it lead to so much confused language. I mean, protip: You don't need to put an entire reality through armageddon and nullification to end a story. A story can end and the Universe goes on. Conflating the two is bizarre.
