However, if the broader rhetorical arc here is aimed at "by why does PyCon US maintain this policy", I would ask that you direct those questions to @ThePSF and @PyConUS

I passionately support the decision to maintain the policy (and can explain why if you'd like), but I did not personally make it.

Now I'm thinking maybe I could do a lightning talk based on this at next year's @PyConUS @pycon ...

Exciting to see that @PyConUS has posted the videos from #PyCon2023, which includes my very first lightning talk at #PyConUS! Nothing fancy but I hope it's a good start to pushing myself toward my goal to give more talks and presentations at conferences. You have to start somewhere!

In a shockingly annoying twist of fate, I turned up #COVID positive today (RT-LAMP test) after getting light symptoms last night. Based on the timing, my guess would be during the #PyConSprints at #PyConUS. If you were in 250F on Monday, 250C on Tuesday, or 250D on Wednesday definitely make sure to check your tests.
