@ibenb @atommarie Jeg havde en lang snak med den forleden om koldkrigs CF. Den mente the US var det mest avancerede. Hårdt presset til at inkludere Europa måtte den dog indrømme, at der også skete lidt i Schweiz. I DK både havde man og havde man ikke evakueringsplaner sagde den. Men andre gange havde den fat i interessante perspektiver.

Global radioactive fallout
Radioactive fallout from nuclear weapon testing in the atmosphere and nuclear accidents has been distributed around the planet.
The presence of these particles served as #radioactive tracers that facilitated our scientific understanding of the dynamics of the atmosphere and oceans.
It has effected the biota of the Earth as well, including human beings.
H-bomb mushroom clouds lifted radionuclides high into the upper atmosphere so that the #fallout came down over several years, often far from the #nuclear test site.
Radioactive particles have been found on all continents, on mountaintops and the ocean floor. A 2013 study found more particles 2.3km from ground zero in Nagasaki from global testing than the 1945 attack.
It is used to determine forgeries made after 1945 from paintings to fake wine.
This is one reason it is seen as a marker of the start of the #Anthropocene

Hello 👋, this is my #introduction. I am a postdoc in media history at Lund University, Sweden. I'm currently working on a project about Cold War psychological defence and media preparedness in DK and SE.
My recent research has focused on other aspects of #coldwar #nuclearculture, particularly #civildefence in DK and the UK.
Future research adventures includes a digital history project on #shelters in Aarhus, DK.
