Multiple orgs that did rapid response analysis of content and rumors during chaos in 2020 don’t exist anymore -ie, the lies, investigations, and vexatious lawsuits of Jim Jordan, Stephen Miller et al killed Stanford Internet Observatory. More are recently defunded.
Some pretty handy tools -like Crowdtangle- no longer exist. The Twitter/X API costs $$$ now, so OSINT tools died.
And we need these things more than ever, as it becomes harder to tell what’s real.
Chicago. Ten city blocks!!
There are nearly 100,000 people at the rally in Philadelphia. #NoKings
I've been seeing photos and videos of crowds at the No Kings events around the country today. I'm just overwhelmed with a sense of "wow, that's a lot of people". It lifts my spirits.
Thank you, America.
We now have a political assassin impersonating a police officer on the loose in Minnesota, which, aside from being horrifying in and of itself, underscores the danger of the proliferation of anonymous federal law enforcement deployments from a wide variety of unfamiliar agencies conducting aggressive immigration operations across the country.
Is that uniformed person who's stopping you or demanding entry to your home legit or a psychotic vigilante seeking to harm you? It's impossible to know.
Friends. If you could use a palette cleanse or a safe haven from the feeds chat is turned on at the video simulcast of the #comfy channel popup. Hamster and muso friends shall assemble and take artist requests.
If you want to just sit with some others or chat calm tunes, or anything friendly that is not the current feed dominating topics, you are welcome.
Enjoy the comfy sounds while the channel has returned for a pop up in June.

Family sent me picture of a protest today from a deep red town. There are several hundred protestors (estimate) in a teeny, tiny town. They're very quiet—lots of custom signs and families. No one can recall a larger protest taking place in the same location. It's larger than the protests in 2020.
No Kings, but yas queens! #NoKings #PrideMonth
My second protest march in 45 years... I still have the shirt from the first one! (Got the dems to change how delegates were selected.) It kinda sorta fits! 😆
A lovely march in SF with a few thousand of my closest friends! #nokings
Gettin' real tired of living through actual history.
When Trump says “states’ rights,” he means the right to agree with him. Otherwise, they can face the national guard.
The destruction of US science institutions by the Trump administration is ongoing, and on all fronts...

California governor’s office says no need for deployment of the National Guard in L.A and to do so in an unlawful manner seriously breaches state sovereignty and seems intentionally designed to inflame the situation.
All members of the military: remember your oath.
