RT @BusfaceontheAir
You know why I learned #morsecode? I was getting bored with #hamradio. I played with FT8/4, JS-8 for a minute but that was the most hands off I had ever felt with the hobby. Morse Code brought all the fun back!

Well, the time has come to move to Mastodon. If you want to follow me, KJ6VU, or the Ham Radio Workbench podcast in general, you will have to come over to the Fediverse. Look for me @KJ6VU@mastodon.hams.social

I put together a short video showing my portable "shack in a pack" kit for portable ham radio operations: youtu.be/CMRpv_CN3to

Thanks to all that visited me on 20m CW for @POTAspots VE-5933; 33 contacts in 40 minutes I think I'm getting more comfy with this. 73 #POTA

In case you missed it, over on TheBirdSite I'm live micro-blogging a KX3/PX3 Go-Kit build. This is the link to the latest #Superthread twitter.com/VE6LK/status/15930 and where I show you how badly distorted a LM386 module can be IRL

This is only a re-re-test [of the Mastodon/Twitter x-bridge]
Please do not adjust the horizontal, vertical, diagonal, circular, Vin, Vout, Pin, Pout, impedance, reactance, resistance, capacitance, weights, measures.
Or anything else you can think of and a few things you didn't 🤣

2022-11-18

This is only a re-test. Do not adjust your horizontal or vertical settings.

2022-11-18

This is only a test. Do not adjust your sweep rates or scanning frequency.

Hey #hamradio folks. I know we use the acronym CW to mean morse code (via “continuous wave.”) I also know we are encouraged to use hashtags to make our content more easily searchable. I agree with all this.

But be aware that #cw typically refers to Content Warnings. And that convention has existed on the Fediverse/Mastodon for a very long time.

I suggest we use #morse instead. It’ll prevent confusion, and your posts are less likely to be filtered out.

Please Boost for visibility.

In the past week, I've seen a few attempts to explain Mastodon to the folks leaving Twitter.

Unfortunately, most of those attempts focused on explaining the Fediverse and servers and feeds.

I thought that I'd try a different approach. Let me know if it is useful.

@DL3RR and as @taekehf has suggested, Morserunner is also excellent

2022-11-11

@taekehf I use Morserunner also, it is great!

@VE6LK Morserunner is also very good. It can emulate pile-ups and conditions. It's a contest-simulator, so you need to copy numbers too, but I see that as a substitute for the report.
