Went out to Minute Man National Park after work today and was able to get a quick Parks on the Air activation in. Life has been very busy so it was nice to finally get on the radio.
Contacts came in pretty quickly but could drop out mid exchange. Nonetheless, the ionosphere provided a few surprises and connected me with California, Washington, Italy and Austria!

Anse du Verger #POTA FR-9165 and FR-2848 (#WWFF FFF-0614) seemed an ideal spot for a nice hike and my first activation in #France. Slight rain in the morning, but shortly after noon the sun started shining. I reached a total of 48 QSOs on #20m and #40m in #morsecode and #ssb. I really didn’t intend to stay at US-0460 (New Mexico) for an hour, sitting inside my parked car with the windows down with 90°F (32°C) heat bearing down on me, but the operators just kept calling me — once I switched to CW. Holy cow. Even snagged someone from England and another in Mexico, plus literally coast to coast and corner to corner in the US.
@N4JAW it must be true that the CW #pota crowd is an… enthusiastic… bunch. What fun!

Recently started learning #morsecode , although it's completely useless to me. Sometimes it helps to understand why things developed like they did when you go back in time, when remote communication started. And I love having a #lowtech fallbacks.
