While I was keeping an eye out for #NewYearPlantHunt items, I also noted this apple tree which grows wild in a field hedge.

It always bears a good crop, and I saw not only that it still bore some fruit that hadn't dropped, but it also had a bough of apparently fresh leaves.

A small flower, growing near ground level, with a ring of white ray petals (technically florets rather than petals) surrounding a circle of very small yellow florets.

Temperatures are unusually high and the first daffodils in bloom were sighted here in Amersfoort on 2 January. I saw some Rhododendron buds opening and some daisies on my walks.

Severe frosts before Christmas and then a lot of rain seems to have done for greater variety - I've recorded 20+ in previous nyphs.
