An interesting construction of #Irish #grammar:

an duine is mó ciall ‘the person with greatest sense’

note that the describing noun (ciall ‘sense’ here) always stands in nominative, as if ‘?the person who is greatest sense’.

The explanation as always hides in the ctx’s history! 1/n

14 June 1654: Oliver Plunkett, future Archbishop of #Armagh is released from his student oath to return to the #Irish mission - he stayed on in Rome for a further 15 years. Given what happened when he did go home, this was pretty prudent.
