New mini-doc on the protest and sit-in at Cornell's Day Hall on Thursday, March 21.

"In an act of peaceful civil disobedience in the evening, 24 individuals occupied the administrative building Day Hall after it closed, resulting in #Cornell University Police officers attesting them, and releasing them immediately after."

This took place as #CornellUniversity strips students of freedoms of assembly and expression, during a year in which it branded a Freedom of Expression Theme Year.

The Freedom of Expression Theme is for the benefit of racists and white supremacists like Ann Coulter, who will be speaking at the university, but not for those who oppose genocide.

More details in the video and short write-up.

You cannot report intellectual property infringement on the nearly-dead site formerly known as Twitter unless you have an account on that site.

This seems like this should be, or might already be illegal?

I refuse to support an authoritarian anti-labor manchild by using that platform, but cannot report the fact that a neo-nazi is using some of my content without permission.

Both Facebook and YouTube have removed the content for infringing copyright, but on that other dying site, I cannot report it.

About 70 people gathered in downtown #Ithaca on Presidents Day to protest the material and political support for a genocide against the Palestinian people by the United States.

“Our demands are, immediately, for a ceasefire,” said activist Beth Harris over a loudspeaker. “And to stop the ground invasion of Rafah. We are calling on all of our public officials—from local and Governor to Senators and Representatives and the President—end the genocide!”

For readers in the Ithaca area, it is important to remember that General Washington ordered Major General John Sullivan to annihilate the Indigenous Haudenosaunee who called this region home long before European settlers arrived, and to demolish their homes to make way for white settlers.

The letter, penned by General Washington in 1779 reads, “The expedition you are appointed to command is to be directed against the hostile tribes of the six nations of Indians, with their associates and adherents. The immediate objects are the total destruction and devastation of their settlements and the capture of as many prisoners of every age and sex as possible”

Ithaca, New York is on stolen Gayogo̱hó:nǫˀ land, but local media often ignores and erases the contemporary presence and issues faced by the Gayogo̱hó:nǫˀ community.

And, of course, national media helicopters in as soon as there is violence or destruction, but fails to give context or coverage in the absence of those things.

"By failing to heed the decision of Halftown’s Clanmother, the US government continues to violate the Two Row Wampum Treaty, a centuries-old pact of peace, friendship, and mutual non-interference in matters of governance between the Haudenosaunee and settlers," writes Ken Wolkin in Striking Distance.

"Not only has the BIA, housed within the Department of the Interior, shown a willful disregard for the role of Clanmothers within Gayogo̱hó:nǫˀ governance, it also refuses to engage diplomatically with the Council of Chiefs, who hold the role of conducting Nation-to-Nation diplomacy for the Gayogo̱hó:nǫˀ people."

Striking Distance aims to continue covering this #IndigenousAffairs issue and other under-covered local issued affecting communities in the Ithaca and surrounding areas.

Volunteer-run Sunrise #Ithaca has started hosting community meetings on the City of Ithaca's climate goals, and a proposed framework (Justice50) for ensuring that disadvantaged households reap at least half of the benefits of local #Climate efforts.

“We’re out here doing community engagement,” said Dufresne, who organized this event with a group of volunteers, “but ideally, the City would be doing this.”

Absolutely mind blown today. Found a website that summarizes terms of service for lots of services out there such as Facebook, Reddit, Amazon and others; ranking them from grade A, very good, to grade E, awful. Take a look and you might be shocked by some of the stuff we all miss because we don't read TOS. Needless to say, this is going in my important sites list. tosdr.org. Additionally, you can follow @ToSDR which is the official account for the site.

(also, though, if I'm being honest....the rest of this album is hella boring!)

everyone always talks about the way that drum fill enters in "In The Air Tonight", bit no one ever acknowledges that the bass line that kicks in after absolutely kills...

As of January 17, analysis of satellite data reveals that between 50% and 62% of all buildings in Gaza have likely been damaged or destroyed. The destruction has not only forced 1.9 million people to leave their homes but also made it impossible for many to return. This has led some experts to describe what is happening in Gaza as “domicide”, defined as the widespread, deliberate destruction of the home to make it uninhabitable, preventing the return of displaced people. The concept is not recognized in law.

- "How war destroyed Gaza’s neighbourhoods – visual investigation," from the Guardian.
