Probably better than what we have in the U.S.! Your canals in Europe are also far superior to what we have. We ripped our canals up once the horns of the trains were heard. When I walk the canals nearby it’s mostly remnants and ruins of what once was with just a few short segments still operating.

A tweet by journalist Kyle Cheney (@kyledcheney) reports breaking news that Judge Breyer has ordered former President Trump to return control of the California National Guard to the state, declaring the federal call-up illegal. The tweet includes an image of a court document titled “ORDER GRANTING PLAINTIFFS’ APPLICATION FOR TEMPORARY RESTRAINING ORDER” from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. The case, filed by Gavin Newsom and others against Donald J. Trump, outlines that on June 6, 2025, federal immigration raids in Los Angeles led to protests. The next day, Trump federalized the California National Guard. I am currently planning on attending the anti-Trump protest in Amsterdam this Saturday afternoon from 1 pm outside the US consulate, and I am planning to bring Odin if it's not too hot.

If you google this, you will find a sign-up form. Do not sign up for protests, no matter how well-intentioned the people asking. I personally feel at minimal risk in this context (mostly because I am planning on never going back to the US at all) but keeping a master spreadsheet of names, emails and phone numbers is reckless in 2025.

Morning walk today at the Nature Preserve nearby. It was cool when I started but the humidity made itself known towards the end.
