@feyo In retrospect, I find it funny that the computers of this era had a "Turbo" switch - as if anyone would have thought: "nah, it's too fast, I keep it slow..."

(yes, there were games implementing pauses with loops instead of timers, those you could actually slow down, but that's not the point)

From an airplane window, you have a nice view. But to actually see the curvy horizon of our home planet, you have to look from higher up. Like those radio amateurs did with their ballon, transmitting images using a technique called slow scan television ().

Nice pics from up there:

@ewolff @mntmn it's a cool device, indeed. Happy seeing it getting popular, because it also promotes a specific mindset regarding repair- and sustainability.

@chorist Yes, Gforth as software is a very complete to start with, IMHO. But their tutorial I find a bit confusing.
I still like the old classics (only few things about Forth changed over the last decades, but not much, philosophy-wise): "Starting Forth" by Leo Brodie is fun to read, "Programming Forth" by Stephen Pelc is very structured and more contemporary. Both are available online.
Do you already have ideas how to integrate or apply Forth to your projects, embedded or desktop?

@h4ckernews Appearantly, I like everything Forth-like

Rory Nugent’s wonderful Solar Xylophone uses the sun to make music outdoors. The result is a peaceful release of musical notes that’s always different, written by the sun and edited by the dappling of that sunlight through the trees.
