Created a unique plasma/pollen engine using text symbols. You can ignite it anywhere on the screen. Technically, it's quite simple: Perlin noise shifts upward and controls the gradient descent of symbol positions. As a result, symbols form streams as they move upward. Looks interesting?

Christmas-themed resource-gathering location for my game Effulgence. A firefly guards the area, while the player collects resources—let's see who comes out on top! With character comments to bring some holiday cheer.

Made a fire stream out of symbols. Does it look good?

Current battle gameplay: everything shoots automatically. You just reload, maybe craft something mid-fight (like a shield or a support drone) and escape in time.

Still deciding if I should rework it to give the player more control.

Finished the first version of the item printing screen. It's a complex screen in terms of UI. It shows all the resources and the blueprints. Items are printed character by character. I've put together the first version. Do you think it came out well?

The only way to get crafting resources in the game Effulgence is by taking down the inhabitants and breaking them into particles. Trying to figure out how this might look. Looks good?

A planet made entirely out of text symbols. This is a screen from the game Effulgence showing the current planet and its locations.

Check out the project on Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/330

The planet itself is created as follows:
1. Points are evenly distributed on a sphere.
2. Heights are then manually adjusted, symbols are placed, and colors are set.

The glow intensity of symbols in the video may seem excessive. This is the maximum glow level, which can be reduced in the game settings.

I've long wanted to turn the pixelated text line 'Sea Waves' into actual sea waves. Did it turn out interesting? This is my new game, Effulgence.

Just launched the Steam page for it. Come check it out and add it to your wishlist if you like the style:

Dude with a shotgun (24x30 pixels, monochrome, 2 frames). Almost all sprite textures in my game are created programmatically at load time. Here are a few stages: Initial => Post-processing for CRT monitor effects => Dynamic post-processing for game effects.

Added Dolly zoom effect to the game which was first utilized in Alfred Hitchcock's film Vertigo in 1958. I'm attempting to replicate this effect in my game by cleverly manipulating parallax parameters. Looks alright?

The game now has a page on Steam. Please, feel free to visit and add Coin-Op Vice to your Wishlist if you like the style: store.steampowered.com/app/272

Few days ago, my game's textures glitched out, and it switched into text mode. It looked so cool that I decided to turn this bug into a feature. If you approach the computer terminal sticking out of the floor, you can enter 'Matrix Debugging Mode':

I'm adding a new control method to the game!

Things can always glitch out when you're fine-tuning the game engine. That's when you realize my game is made up of text characters. It's like transitioning from pixel art to a virtual world. A random, intriguing effect. I'm thinking, maybe I could use it in the game somehow?

On some floors, the light is dimmer, and darkness gathers at the edges of the screen. The picture isn't as bright, but it seems to add atmosphere. I've added this effect to game now and I'm wondering - should I keep it or not? Does it look interesting?

Saw a cool idea how to encourage players to wishlist the game. A bouncing arrow points to the Wishlist button. Neat way to encourage the right action, in my opinion. Implemented the same for myself. The method is quite simple:

1. At the beginning of the long description, insert a link to the game page.

2. Right after that - a gif with the arrow.

You can check it out to see how it turned out on my Steam page. And wishlist while you're at it:

The banner for the first section in the long description on Steam page. Good? 🤔

Just added a Pandora's Cardboard Box to my game Coin-Op Vice. It works quite simply: there's a 50% chance it'll hit and take away a life, and a 50% chance it'll give you a new cartridge. You can adjust the percentages in your favor by leveling up the Trap Detector skill.
