If you're interested in funding or helping us find funding for a Discord replacement that's federated and end-to-end encrypted, we're interested in implementing that at @spritely ... we even had been talking about that being our big focus for 2026.
We have the skills and the underlying tech to pull this off. What we need right now is resources. Funding for open source nonprofits like ours really fell apart in 2025. If you think you know how to help, feel free to reach out.
A major win for the ocean ✊✊
An Australian company’s bid to mine the seabed off Aotearoa, New Zealand has been rejected after regulators found it would cause serious harm to marine life, including whales and penguins. 🌊🌊
This is what people power looks like, and it sends a clear signal to governments everywhere that seabed mining is too destructive to greenlight. Show
Yep, #NPR got that 100% right.
*not only this weekend ofc.

#wero can easily become one of the leading #europeanalternatives for digital payments. More banks and countries will be part of this in the near future. As a #European service with a mission, #digitalsovereignty, #wero needs to stop using #Facebook, #TikTok and #Instagram.
Please tell #wero to use @Mastodon, @loops and @pixelfed instead. Only then becomes the vision real. Let's keep #bigtech out of this.

Moest meteen aan jullie afleveringen over gedrag van dieren denken. Over koeien hebben jullie natuurlijk ook al gepraat.
I started using Vivaldi last year, it's a pleasant experience so far.
Are the links to the websites shown in the screenshot sponsored? I've asked about #bookingcom before. This company is directly linked to #occupation and #apartheid under which the people of #Palestine have to live every single day of their lives.
Money is always a delicate matter. One rule should be followed no matter what though. Don't support #genocide
When did you stop posting on X?
Person A: When its owner made nazi salutes.
Person B: When it became a production and distribution channel for images of child sexual abuse.
Government: We're still posting there.
Hello. I'm trying to find out if #cyberark (cybersecurity company from #Israel) has any direct link to the #occupation of and the #genocide against #Palestine. This company is part of an investment product of my bank. I already submitted information which showed that employees of CyberArk volunteered in the war on #Gaza after the #Hamas attack. I'm looking for information which might implicate the company as a whole to make a case against their position in a fund offered by my bank.
🧵 My sense of justice was triggered by #Palantir corporate gaslighting two Swiss investigative journalists on LinkedIn.
This is something most people won’t even see, but I was angry, so I looked while my kid was still asleep.
Here’s what it looks like when tech bros attack journalists while you and I have too much food over Christmas.
Two Swiss journalists spent a year filing 59 #FOIA requests to document Palantir’s 7-year campaign to sell surveillance software to Swiss authorities (army and health services in particular).

The Swiss army’s internal report concluded they couldn’t rule out US intelligence accessing data through Palantir systems, despite reassurances.
Their story hit The Guardian, and #UK MPs are now questioning £825M in Palantir contracts.
The journalists were rejoicing on LinkedIn. It’s a big deal to have your story picked up by mainstream UK media, especially after a year of hard work.
This is where it gets ugly.

RE: https://ec.social-network.europa.eu/@EUCommission/115762325563043978
Oh we have the same wish @EUCommission
I think it'd be a powerful move if you deleted your X account (a platform that has become a vector of misinformation and a cesspool of hate).
By the way, your homepage states: "Follow us on" followed by the icons of Facebook, X and LinkedIn. I always found it odd, since those are algorithm-based U.S. companies and you are the EUROPEAN Commission. How about putting your Mastodon icon on your homepage?
Thank you for your consideration
Regaining trust and autonomy.
This year I finally made the switch to #Linux on my laptop. Your message reminded me that the journey isn't over just yet. Only a #degoogled phone will bring me there.
The #Wikipedia article about the #genocide in #Gaza can currently not be edited. Jimmy Wales personally intervened. He criticizes what is to him an one-sided description of the article and says that he misses neutrality.
It's especially about the first paragraph.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaza_genocide
Are we still at the stage of asking when a #genocide is a #genocide?
There are plenty of people who know better about Wikipedia and how to write articles there but a genocide is a genocide to me.
Today the 105 year anniversary of the Ocoee Election Day Massacre. On 11/2/1920 a white mob murdered 30 Black people, burned 25 Black owned homes & 2 Black churches—all because Black people exercised their right to vote.
Ocoee's entire Black community was driven out within a year. No Black American moved back in until 60 years later in 1980. Why wasn’t this taught in schools?
This isn’t ancient history. It’s yesterday’s newspaper.
Today I installed #Vivaldi Browser on my laptop. On the landing page, where you are greeted by a selection of websites, I spotted #bookingcom.
Booking.com is "helping [ #Israeli] settlers commercialise stolen land [in #Palestine]" and thus aiding #Israel in #genocide.
I very kindly ask the @Vivaldi team to remove this website from the Speed Dial selection.
Here's an article from the Guardian with more details on the raised topic.
