When my mom died, I continued checking her e-mail and phone - unsubscribing from things and closing accounts - to clean up her online presence. I don't know why... Why would I waste my time doing that?

Regardless, I have now started deleting my own accounts. Partially because I want privacy. I want to sign up for new accounts with anonymous addy.io e-mails and privacy.com credit cards. Partially because of digitalcleanupday.org. And partially for reasons unknown...

Me: get an undesired e-mail, click "unsubscribe" link, get redirected to a website that says "unsubscribed" that has a button that says "resubscribe", accidentally click the button, realize I have to go through this process again, rage.

If this is your process to unsubscribe, you are an ASSHOLE!

I feel like LED bulbs make "diet" light. It takes less calories to produce it, but there's a slightly nasty afterimage. Sometimes I just want that rich, flavorful incandescent light. Polarized glasses have started bothering me too. Of course nothing beats the clean, full spectrum, flicker-free light produced by the remote fusion reactor in the sky, but if I'm exposed to that for too long I get groggy...

I'm moving away from centralized, corporate payment surveillance platforms. I closed my Paypal, Venmo, and Cash App accounts in favor of using #foss #decentralized #payments via #zcash. I know #crypto is a contentious topic, but I think #private #p2p payments are important, and Zcash is to payments as Signal is to messaging (mostly - we'll ignore the fact that Signal isn't decentralized.)

I deleted my Instagram account yesterday, because I want to boycott all corporate, centralized social media. I wasn't a heavy Instagram user, so it wasn't terribly painful. I'll miss the high quality memes and short videos though... I need to put a little bit more effort into Pixelfed and loops.video to see if they'll provide the same entertainment.

On a more serious note, I am really enjoying "Slay the Princess". If y'all haven't checked it out, and you like narrative horror/love stories, you should check it out.
