My son and I made an amazing experiment to show that the Earth is round - if there was any doubt. We recorded the sunset using a drone some 4 meters above the sea. Once the sun had set we zoomed the drone to an altitude of 100 meters - and the sun came back up! #sunset #roundearth #skagen #sunsetphotography #science #citizenscience #sunset #drone #djimini #dji #thereyougo

@astrocamp Great post. What process do you use for stretching?
And perhaps a silly question: which of your process do you run on linear data/non-linear?

@catherineryanhyde @sunscream Ok, I see. I worked on a HDR of M42 but struggled with getting both Trapezium stars and nebula looking good. Smart move to focus on just the one thing

@catherineryanhyde Nice job on resolving Trapezium. Can I ask what scope and camera you are using ?

I remember seeing the Horsehead nebula in my parents’ encyclopedia as a kid. I was amazed at how such a thing could exist. And now technologyy has evolved so far, that I can take the same picture from my own backyard!
Here it is accompanied by the Flame nebula in the lower left together with the star Allnitak, which is the left most star in Orion’s belt. #horsehead #B33 #NGC2023 #horseheadnebula #flamenebula #astronomy #astrophotography #deepsky #backyardastronomy #astroshots #astrophoto #Space #universe #galaxy #universetoday #nightsky #stars #galaxy #nightphotography #skywatcher #touptek #backyardastrophotography

@rickt137 Thanks! I’ve just this week started playing with drizzling when integrating my light frames and I need to try with this session to see if I can coax a little bit more detail out in the dust lane. Take care!

M104 is my favourite galaxy!
So very photogenic with its distinct dust lane around the central bulge of stars, hanging in space like a small pendant - or a Sombrero apparently. In fact it’s composed of several hundred billion individual stars and is estimated at a diameter of 50.000 lightyears so the only reason for it appearing small is its mind-melting distance of 28 million lightyears #M104 #sombrerogalaxy #astronomy #astrophotography #deepsky #backyardastronomy #astroshots #astrophoto #Space #universe #galaxy #universetoday #nightsky #stars #galaxy #nightphotography #skywatcher #touptek #backyardastrophotography
