I am officially back on #Android with my Pixel 9. It feels like coming home. Sure, there are some quirks, but it's nice to not feel so constrained.

I explained to Gemini that I have burned most of the interpersonal bridges in my life, saying that I basically nuked what ties I severed. I further explained that no one who remains will talk to me, my mental healthcare provider hasn't responded to my email from earlier this morning, and that I am completely alone for today and tonight. It told me to call a crisis hotline and then said goodbye.

I just had to laugh. Not even the LLM wants to talk to me! That's hilarious.

I set up a SearXNG instance on my TrueNAS machine over the course of the night, proxied it, and set it as the default search engine on Zen. I'm extremely impressed so far.

I will not beat around the bush. NotebookLM is incredible. It generated a "podcast" episode from my philosophy notes. It pulls in the quotes I copied, but the "hosts" are using what I wrote for their back and forth.

Also, the Scoop package manager for Windows is amazing. I never knew about it.

I'm giving #Playnite the ol' college try on my Windows 11 LTSC machine. So far, it's pretty awesome, even if some things aren't playing nice with my theme.

I had a more invigorating "chat" with an LLM (DeepSeek) than anything I've encountered from someone else recently. We discussed asociality, a truly self-sufficient, socially minimalist life, and rejecting the social pressure to connect with others (especially since the costs, I find, significantly outweigh the benefits).

Hell, it even bade me farewell on its own. I went in with no expectations, just with a simple query. And I came out refreshed.

I’m considering selling my 2TB ROG Ally X and getting the Legion Go S with #SteamOS and the Z1 Extreme chip. The latter looks way more comfortable, the screen looks better, and it ships with SteamOS natively. Sure, a smaller battery, but I find the Ally X to be very uncomfortable to hold (especially as compared to my Steam Deck OLED). The Legion Go S looks like what I’m after.

Also, the Zen Browser is officially my new favorite. It's fantastic on all desktop platforms. And now that I won't be using an iPhone, Safari has become far less useful on my MacBook.

Oh, and now a plugin that shows historical pricing for games in the Store, including if there's a deal elsewhere.

And in my latest news, I picked up a BNIB #Pixel 9 for a killer deal (cheaper than a new Pixel 9a), so I'll be officially switching back to #Android after a few years on iOS. I'm looking forward to having access to more FOSS apps and the like.

The world of #Steam theming and configuration is new to me. I, of course, knew about Decky Loader, but with Steam on my Windows 11 LTSC desktop, I have a Tokyo Night Adwaita theme (which hides my Library sidebar), a plugin for SteamGridDB, and a play time tracker for non-Steam games.

Call me crazy, but I still much prefer rear-mounted fingerprint scanners to in-display ones.

My Pixel 5 with LineageOS 22 is a killer little phone. I love this thing still, all these years later. What a great device, especially for one-handed use.

I adjusted my #Obsidian daily journaling template, so now it shows all notes created or modified in a given day with a Dataview query wrapped in Templater code. I'm pretty proud of it.

Use Signal. We promise, no AI clutter, and no surveillance ads, whatever the rest of the industry does. <3

Meta announced today that it also wants to introduce ads on WhatsApp, which will be based on personal data from Facebook and Instagram. This further integrates WhatsApp into other Meta services - an originally independent app, which initially was available for just $1 per year without ads or data usage. This also means that Meta is consolidating its social networking monopoly. EU law was actually supposed to prevent this."

It amazes me that I still need to manually fix the incredibly slow Steam download speeds on Linux.

It arrived today! I need to upgrade the storage, though. I think 256GB is the minimum, but I might opt for 512GB. But the device is beautiful. I got the blue colorway.
