@solarisfire@mast.solarisfire.com @gpowerf@mastodon.social #Google may gather telemetry like everyone else but at least you can easily reduce that telemetry in the #ChromeOS Settings. I mean with such a simple OS the settings to lock things down aren't exactly hidden. With #Windows who knows‽

@gpowerf@mastodon.social It doesn't help that #Microsoft like to drastically change how things work with every #Windows release. I mean it's okay to have change but I think users feel like the rug keeps getting pulled under them all the time. Other OSs are more gradual with changes and it still mostly works the same as it always has.

Has anybody gotten #ProtonDB to accept adding a #Chromebook using the official #Steam client (#borealis)? It parses the data correctly but it says it's incompatible. What does that even mean‽ Does it think I'm using a #SteamDeck or are they discriminating against #ChromeOS? Going to do some tests on a #Linux machine over the weekend and see what happens but thought I'd shout out to the void in case somebody knows something.

Also, no I'm not reaching out on Discord or IRC. If you can't be bothered to put up an email address then I can't be bothered to create another account just for one thing.

Hey folks, I've seen a lot of talk going around about adblockers lately. I worked in the advertising technology and security industry for five years and the one core piece of advice I have is:

Holy fuck never give an advertiser your data. You cannot believe how bad it is. Don't. I run three layers of ad block protection and I'd run more if it was feasible. If you want to support creators give them money.

If people in the Linux space could not boost alt right voices that would be great. Like the least you can do really.
