They are just trying to thinner an intermediate layer between their OS and a Linux container obviously to make server-side development (which is Linux development in 99% of cases) on their OS more pleasant.

Containers are completely fine and an exactly right abstraction but not for the things you're describing. And they aren't a VM at all.
The things people do and invent just to avoid using Linux on desktops are fascinating.
And the determination is just admirable.

Google Analytics records bot traffic as real users — we tested it.
Plausible passed.
We created a test site, installed both GA4 and Plausible on it, and sent only bot traffic (simulating how bots visit a site in real life). The results will make GA4 users question their data.
Plausible successfully rejected the bot traffic and didn't record even a single "fake" pageview.
But Google Analytics got fooled again and again:

The hardest part of building something isn’t always the work.
Sometimes, it’s the waiting.
Waiting for a green light. Waiting for someone else’s review. Waiting, knowing there’s absolutely nothing you can do to speed it up.
We’re right there now—at the almost-final step of something we’ve poured months into.
Can’t share the details yet (don’t want to jinx it), but it’s so close you can feel it.
And yet, we wait.
