In case you haven't heard, Red Hat is laying off people today, and I'm one of them. My 'career' as a Hatter lasted just over 15 months, much less time than I had planned or expected.

i definitely feel like the usage of groups has fallen since following hashtags became an option which is a shame as hashtags don't federate so it doesn't actually meaningfully extend reach. So here's some groups that exist!

Has had a profound impact on an entire generation of young people only now becoming activists and 2. has made it clear that she doesn’t care about the boycotts. Probably easy for her to say given her losses to date have not been in her core business. On the other hand, she has not written a culturally successful book since the Potter series. So how do you stick it to her while educating an entire generation on why she’s an actual cnt-waffle?
Mockery, not anger. Disinterest. Dismissive. Narcissists hate it. She’s loving this conflict. Don’t give it to her. Do not give her one single purchase on your lips. Because there is nothing like disinterest to piss off someone like her. To someone who says something about her books, “what’s she done lately?” And then nothing. To a gamer, “Really, that’s the most interesting game you could find? Wow that says a lot about variety these days.” And then nothing else about her or the books. Only about the aspects of the game itself.
That’s not to say we shouldn’t still actively boycott her. But I think it’s time for us to just suck the air out of her. She’s enjoying our pain too much.

Do we agree that it would be illegal no matter the president who did it. Correct? Because my understanding is that the Democratic (Go Blue!) Party’s position is that Gitmo bad across the board. It’s hard to know what Democratic policies are given they hid the process from their own people at the last convention. I ask because it would appear that your suggested actions do not equal the standards of your implied party.

@GottaLaff as an antifascist I speak to fascism anywhere. And I do not assume to read peoples’ minds about intent (something you should try). And so when it is spoken that baldly and I read it, I will say something. This time and the next time and the ….
Your comment feels like virtue signaling, TBH. If you truly believed that I would act in that manner, I would hope you would block me. Instead you use ridicule and try to play the “but what if” game. I’ve got better things to do.
But I will remind you that the fediverse (built by, you know, EUROPEANS) is heavily Euro-centric and actively hostile to fascists. You can expect to see people like me pop up more often for the reasons I began with. You talk about the problems, anti-fascists try to actually change the problem. There are areas of the fediverse you might want to avoid.

I’m more convinced that what’s needed is a crèche instance for people who don’t want to choose. A highly moderated, deliberately short term home with maybe mentoring or guidance to follow people and find a long term home.

If you don't write AltText on your photos, we notice that too. Please give it a try. Imagine how you'd feel if you came across picture after picture that looks like a blank screen to you. You'd be frustrated, right?

It took the repairability movement longer than we hoped but it's here now, and we have that image-based model for distros.
We can provide a chromebook-like experience but with way more options, flexibility, and better tooling for organizations.

@JustinDerrick I started in 89. My first walled garden was CompuServe. When I started you could play at 300 baud or 1200 baud. I have no remembrance of the day fees, but 6pm to 6am you could be online at 300 baud for $6/hour. I played MUD with a guy who still used one of the old modems where you placed the phone headset into a cradle on the modem.
What pains me the most is how much I have spent on RAM for pcs over the years.
