We agree with President Biden -- choosing Kamala was one of the best decisions he's made. She has the resume to prove it: As a prosecutor, she defended the Constitution and fought for folks who deserve a fair shake. As California's AG, she worked hard to ensure everyone was treated fairly, no matter who they are or who they love. As a Senator, she was one of the strongest voices holding the Trump administration accountable. And, as Vice President, she helped lead the charge on expanding the Affordable Care Act, combating climate change, fighting for reproductive freedom, equality, and the rule of law.

But Kamala has more than a resume. She has the
vision, the character, and the strength that this critical moment demands. There is no doubt in our mind that

Our #StargazerLily bed never ceases to amaze me. I love it SO MUCH. In spring and early summer the stalks pop up and tease us into thinking we know what's coming, and around this time of year they explode in all their glory (inevitably outperforming expectations). The pink and white petals burst forth proudly and their intoxicating fragrance permeates the air. It takes a lot of effort for me to walk away.

@Meowthias that's awesome. More places need to give better access to education (and recognition for work done) to those that want it, especially those who couldn't do it "traditionally" for whatever reason.

@Meowthias thanks so much. ❤️ Little-known fact outside my family is that I did, too. Forever honor student, dropped because I was an angsty teen and social pariah (and, looking back, ADHD probably had something to do with it). GED to JD with lots of bumps along the way.

The student took the language arts practice yesterday and passed, but could improve. I'm most worried about the #math section, secondarily #science, thirdly #socialstudies.

Fedi friends: I've volunteered to tutor someone for the #GED and I'd love your recommendations on source material and study methods. The student is "mildly" #autistic, very smart, but easily frustrated when something doesn't immediately click.

I won't be the sole tutor; they're also using the GED+ service and have an advisor. I am meeting them weekly to review what they're stuck on and help with next steps, because I'm one of their trusted people and they don't know the advisor personally. 1/2

Work gave us the week off, and all I've done so far is other work I had been putting off because of work. #SendHelp I might be a #workaholic 😭

ETA: I'm also constantly bored even when working, soooo maybe it's just my brain being its annoyingly busy self.

@neil it depends on what type of service and what data they want to use to train what type of model. As I might share proprietary or confidential messages through a particular communication service, I do not want those messages used to train anything at all. But if a service that, say, offers research assistance to users in a closed (i.e. paid) environment wants to use my subject-specific queries or patterns of accessing particular resources to improve its functionality, I'm all for it.

Some of you might recall in past toots of her that Stella Blue does not like to be studied closely. She's always wary that it will lead to having some dirt removed from her eye or, that most horrific of events for her, being picked up. So, it was nice yesterday to get her to sit still long enough to get multiple pictures including rarities such as her actually looking at me instead of scoping out an escape route and an extremely rare blep.

@intransitivelie don't know where you are, but yes, HOAs are insanely stupid. I'm also in a city but I love it here, no HOA, lawn is mostly garden, quiet street but I can still walk to a coffee shop. The worst I have is one loud dog next door but that's not constant. I'm sorry you have obnoxious neighbors. 😕

A bit buggy yet, but it's cute, charming, at times hilarious (I'd like to meet the folks responsible for dialogue), and well worth the dollars. It's even got a discord and the devs seem like they're paying attention!

People would really be doing themselves a favor by familiarizing themselves with logical fallacies.

Some are better known, like strawman and ad hominem, but I highly recommend dicto simpliciter, tautological fallacy, and false dichotomy.

They all are employed far too often on social media.
