I believe that the phenomenon we currently witness at apple with their obviously flawed “liquid glass” ui is the problem an organisation that employs a significantly large number of well skilled people faces when they have optimised and finished a product. The product is completed and for the foreseeable future only minor tweaks are needed, yet the workforce needs tasks. For twitter this meant feature creep, for apple this means “ui work” and “further improvements” despite no need for them. Sad.

Heute im IR37 2277 von Basel nach Lenzburg hat der Chef-Kondukteur einer Mitreisenden die zum ersten Mal mit der App ein Ticket gekauft hat sehr charmant erklärt dass ihr Sparbillet eigentlich ungültig sei in diesem Zug. Ihr wars sehr unangenehm. Und er hat Kulanz walten lassen. Eine sehr schöne Geste der Gastfreundschaft an Bord des Zuges! #sbb

Opa tells a war story: back when I began with computers, when something didn't work I tried figuring out why. This sometimes meant looking around for logs etc. and when I found them, I *read* them, and even though 99.87% of the text meant absolutely nothing to me, I learned from the logs.

You just sent me a log in which there is clearly (right at the top) a sentence: "HTTP request failed: Status 404".

Don't you even have the curiousity to know what that means?!

Why does every damn shipping service's tracking system go through a gulf of zero knowledge?

I'm so tried of tracking results that display "That's a tracking number but idk, man." Sometimes this happens for days.

And, of course, you check back a few hours later and there is an entire list of activity that happened during the 'idk, man' phase.

Like, technically, what are they doing here? The worst eventual consistency in the world? Is someone transcribing paper slips?

@Codeschubse weiss es nicht. Vermutung geht aber in die Richtung dass es falsch angewendet grossen Schaden anrichtet? Da scheinen ja insgesamt die Lager sehr gespalten zu sein zwischen "Fans" und "Gegnern"...
