Engineer at SUSE … All your Python are belong to me! … Christian, geek, happy father of two!

Open Source solution is always worse against the same proprietary solution developed in similar time with massively bigger amount of resources used for it. That’s just simple mathematic, there are no miracles in engineering. However, a free solution has a tendency to continuously improve, whereas proprietary solutions often don’t, or they may even prematurely die. E.g., neovim stands on the heritage of forty-eight years of development (starting with vi in 1976). None can beat that.
I believe it is.

So, to date myself, you mean to say that #ActivityPub is like #email and #Bluesky protocol is like #Usenet ? Yes, I remember how expensive (in terms of bandwidth and storage) newservers were.
Thank you, #SUSE, for #HackWeek, this time it was a big fun for me, and it seems I have actually managed to create something! Port of https://github.com/keis/git-fixup to POSIX Shell and suggestion to #git happened. Unfortunately, it seems that git-mentoring list seems dead (no reply for over a day).
Completely agree, but sometimes using `log.debug()` instead makes it possible to make some problematic part of your code debuggable next time the problem happens (and it will).
Don’t ask to ask, ask! What are your specific problems?

To which I can reply, that the history will show who is right. I would love to be proven wrong.
Except that #Bluesky is the complete antithesis of #Scuttlebutt … centralized closed system.
Well, it is not like https://git.cepl.eu/cgit/ tries to compete with GitHub, but still I have tens of megabytes of logs. Probably should switch them off.
Would switching-on caching help?
Is every #cgit instance a subject to DoS-like attack by search engines?
Long enough? They were chatting since 1978 (RSA paper; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_and_Bob )! Most marriages I know about have not been that long!

Switch to $OTHER_DISTRO immediately! There’s no way to live with that!
A ano, jsem křesťan (byť ne katolík), tohle v žádném případě není míněno jako atheistický slint.
