Our members are busy crafting Christmas gifts at the lab right now, like this self-made "Schwibbogen". Stop by and see what's being created, or start your own first project.

Our Christmas decoration team really went all out. Two weeks ago, they had a sudden burst of creativity and turned the place into a festive wonderland. Look closely next to the blinky blinky Christmas tree you'll find plenty of little surprises hidden in Christmas style, scattered all around

Our Weldinger drill press has been in the Lab for a fewe months now and it's doing great! Stepless speed control, digital height display, and a cross-hatch laser make it super handy and precise. Much more fun to use than our old model!

Prototype paper towel holders used to break in the lab – but now we have solid wooden ones, handmade by a member. It's always great to see practical improvements taking shape in the makerspace.

When the parking lot is full, it's either giveaway time or as last month – our general meeting.

Welcome to our new board: Milian, Adrian, and Karl.

Thanks to our former board, especially David, for their dedication.

Every Thursday from 6 pm, we open our doors for Open Thursday – a great way to get to know the Munich Maker Lab.
Visitors often bring their projects or ideas, and sometimes unexpected repairs show up too.

Recently, someone brought an old analog video camcorder powered with the wrong polarity, which burned a few transistors. Thanks to one of our members skilled in vintage electronics and the original circuit diagram (yes, those used to exist!), the camcorder is now working again.

Our big lasercutter is back in action – now with a brand new chiller. The new unit runs much quieter than the old one, and we hope it will last just as long. During the repair session, we got a rare look inside the machine and could check out the impressive laser tube – the real heart of our setup.

The lasercutter is ready for your next projects!

Bad and good news: our laser cutter's cooling system broke. The motor capacitor blew, the pump's worn, and some parts are from 1998. No lasering for now. Instead of repairing – we ordered a new chiller to boost efficiency and keep the laser tube going longer. But never forget: The ways of the laser are mysterious. ;-)

A forgotten custom power supply project based on the RD6006 was rediscovered during our recent cleanup. One of our members took up the challenge and transformed the leftover parts into a functional, mobile PSU for the space, reusing available materials and 3D printing & laser cutting needed components.

Yesterday was our last project and cleanup day community event – and this time, there was even delicious homemade pizza for the hardworking people on site. Alongside some nice upgrade projects, we now have even a clean couch in the space again. Still not entirely sure how a creamy white couch found its way into a workshop – but it's so cozy!

On our last project and improvement day – we wanted to refresh our firewood storage at no cost. With the different types of recycled wood we used, it now has a more interesting look than expected.

As a kid, there were things we always wanted but could never have. Now, we don't even have to buy them – we can just 3D print them! <3

In our Maker Lab, the kitchen is an essential part of our community culture – right now, we are lucky to have a member who is motivated to prepare meals for larger groups, which is well received by the Maker team. Our self-grown tomatoes from the yard have also been put to use.

Just finished a new table for the Munich Maker Lab’s gaming corner — drinks-friendly and ready for game night! Come see it in person and hang out at one of our Open Thursdays. Bring a project, bring friends, or just drop by to say hi.

A member recently brought some interesting kids' toys to the lab. These are the kinds of serious real-world challenges we enjoy hacking during our open Thursdays. With enough patience, we're hoping to see a working light controller made from these toys in the near future.

Colorful fairy lights, which one of our members generously lent for our last big event, are now permanently installed in the Munich Maker Lab yard – fully automated with our Home Assistant and programmed to switch on at sunset when the space is open. The lights make our yard more visible in the evening and offer a welcoming atmosphere, so passersby can easily spot when we’re open and feel invited to drop in.

We’ve received a whole box of UV-C lamps, fittings, and power supplies. Since we currently have no use for them, we’d like to pass them on to other makers in exchange for a small donation – it would be a shame to simply throw them away.

If you’re interested and able to pick them up, just get in touch. We’d love to see these parts put to use in another maker project!

Maker Lab Rule: if someone asks you for “just 2 minutes of help”...run!

Yesterday our twin 3D printers, Lambu and Rambu, acted up. One member was already dressed in full motorcycle gear – helmet included – when he got pulled into fixing a clogged nozzle.

Two minutes became twenty. On the bright side: safety standards were at 100%… and with Rambu around, that’s never a bad idea. ;-)
