Crater Lake, Oregon

Crater Lake, or in Giiwas traditional language of the Klamath and Modoc peoples, is a volcanic crater lake in south-central Oregon in the Western United States, known for it clarity, color and depth, which at 1,949 feet (594 m) is the deepest lake in the United States. Crater Lake features two small islands. Wizard Island, located near the western shore of the lake, is a cinder cone about 316 acres (128 hectares) in size. Phantom Ship, a natural rock pillar, is located near the southern shore.

A Native American connection with this area has been traced back to before the eruption of Mount Mazama. Archaeologists have found sandals and other artifacts buried under layers of ash, dust, and pumice that antedate the eruption roughly 7,700 years ago.

I always suspected I was no one.

About a block from my house was a much neglected corner lot. One of the keystone buildings there is an old Mason's Lodge. I didn't really know much else about that corner until a neighbor pointed me at the GSU archive/collections. Apparently, it was also home to the first (?) Kroger in Atlanta in the 1950s.
It is in a sad state, but soon will have new life as it is a highly desirable piece of land. The developer is even preserving the core building as part of the development. I'll post a drone video of the ongoing development soon. #masons #kroger #atlanta #development

Devils Tower (also known as Bear Lodge) is a butte, possibly laccolithic, composed of igneous rock. It rises 1,267 feet (386 m) above the Belle Fourche River, standing 867 feet (264 m) from summit to base.
