Since 25 May 2018, we have been busy enforcing the General Data Protection Regulation – our response to the rapid increase in personal data collection and sharing within our Union and outside.
The #GDPR has ensured personal data is processed securely, fairly, and with your explicit consent.
More than that, it has provided monitoring and sanctioning powers to spearhead a Digital EU that respects your data and fuels progress.
I really wish online stores would come up with some way to tell you the shipping costs _before_ they waste everyone’s time making us fill in lots of details before eventually abandoning the cart.

European data protection authorities today set up a task force to cooperate and exchange information on enforcing EU laws on ChatGPT maker OpenAI.
The European Data Protection Board made the announcement after regulators asked for more coordination.
OpenAI has not set up a local headquarters in one of the EU’s 27 countries, so any member country’s data protection authority can launch new investigations and enforce bans.

Privacy issues at the heart of ChatGPT are catching up with OpenAI. Since Italy announced a temporary ban on ChatGPT last week, regulators in Ireland, Germany, and France have asked Italy from more information. Canada has opened its own investigation.
At the center of the problems—aside from some smaller issues—is how training data scraped from the internet includes people’s personal information.
In Europe, unlike the US where OpenAI is based, personal data on the open web is still protected by data protection laws. And it seems like OpenAI’s legal justification from scooping everything up isn’t good enough.
But this is also a wider problem. It cuts to the core of all machine learning systems. Training data can’t just be scooped up from the open web, existing ML datasets likely don’t have data protection considerations, and ongoing uses of ML may all be subject to the issues

Invited to use #Google #Bard yesterday, but it errors because my region is #Guernsey. Big tech confusion about relationship between #CrownDependencies and UK again. Should not be a problem unless deliberately excluded because of legal issues. It should be clear we speak English, so not a case of us trying to confuse it with French.
Thanks @grumpygamer and the team for Return to Monkey Island. A game that, after finishing it, made me feel a rare and happy nostalgia and it made me think about games, life, love, family, my kids... And every thought was an amazing one. I loved the ending as it is, it is perfect, but I loved also the options in case the player prefers another version. Enjoyable characters to meet, islands to discover, music to hear... a masterpiece for new players but (IMHO) specially for old ones.
