eric's example of GOOD puzzle design - e.g. making the player the central actor - comes from king's quest 1, begins at 13:21 and illustrates his point perfectly.

i think that if we had games built around valuing the player's creativity over the developer's creativity, we'd see a huge change in a genre that has went stale.
