This is M101, the Pinwheel Galaxy. Taken with my Askar 71F last Friday. 2 hours of data but I'm hoping to add more over the next year.

@midendian i just figured they graded it to prevent a landslide or something. was surprised when the houses appeared.

Here's my eclipse photo. We were in the path of Annularity in Utah and it did make a ring of fire, but I think it looked coolest just before the ring.

@malcircuit it’s easy unfortunately… if it’s a cmos camera, make sure gain and offset are the same between lights and darks. also capture software, camera drivers and all settings need to match.

@stevestreza @chockenberry it’s not intuit anymore right? i thought this got spun out a long time ago. still this is disturbing, unless they got a new marketing person and they just had to look like they were doing something…

Western Veil Nebula

NGC 6960, also known as the Western Veil Nebula, the Witch's Broom Nebula, and Sharpless 103, is the remnant from a supernova which occurred about 10,000 years ago. It is the counterpart to the Eastern Veil Nebula, NGC 6992.

Pushing the limits of what’s feasible with my rig and from my light polluted site. This is my take in RGB (no narrowband data at all) and with a “modest” light pollution filter (Baader Moon & Skyglow Filter) of the Cocoon Nebula.
Ionized hydrogen, reflecting nebula, dust and multicolored stars, all together for our own pleasure. Technology and a little bit of craft allow us to see this fantastic corner of our own galaxy.

The Cocoon Nebula owns its name to its almost round shape. Although it can be mistaken with a planetary nebula, the density and physical characteristics tell us it is mostly an ionized hydrogen region, that is giving birth to numerous stars. Very dim dust enriches the environment with heavier elements.

@detreville had an office in bldg 14. no idea it was gone!

@w7voa it’s got to be a mistake. the milky way is 100,000 ly in diameter. there are no galaxies that are only 124ly away…

North America Nebula, imaged three nights ago with RedCat51, ASI530MC, NBZ filter, 52 x 2 min subs, software SiriL, PhotoShop, and StarNet++. Happy how it turned out, quite a bit of details! This nebula is near the bright star Deneb high in the sky right now. The shape looks like the map of North America #Astrodon #astrophotography #astronomy
