Twitter set to exit EU Code of Practice on Disinformation, sources say

Last month, the European Commission designated Twitter as a very large platform, meaning it will have to follow a particularly strict regime regarding transparency and risk management.

On the day of the announcement, Breton confirmed that the social network is on their special watch list and that he obtained permission from the platform to conduct a stress test live at the company’s headquarters at the end of June.

However, two weeks earlier, EURACTIV revealed that Twitter cannot keep up with the new EU requirements that will kick in on 25 August.

It is becoming increasingly likely that Twitter may opt not to comply with the DSA, withdrawing from Europe altogether.

Therefore, exiting from the Code of Practice on Disinformation might be the first formal step in Twitter’s departure from Europe.

@clickhere Will #Meta stop the unlawful transmission of data from the #EU to the #US? I don't know, neither I know if an stay order is possible, I don't think it is because the damage to Meta is a reduction of revenue generated by the violation of the law, the transfer of data itself. The 5 months period is too short for a new data transfer agreement, and the one currently discussed will not work because fundamental rights can't be subject to the discretionary authority of a foreing nation.

Of Course Meta could lobby the US Congress to pass legislation consistent with that implemented in the EU, this issue is Meta's problem, not ours to resolve nor accommodate. Surprising the lack of functionality of, my otherwise beloved, #EUCommission on this issue: trusting international agreements to discretionary authority is a no-no.

However, the #EUCommission is attempting to present a new data transfer agreement with the #US based upon a POTUS #ExecutiveOrder, which can be amended at anytime by POTUS, or by an act of the US Congress. I assume the EU Commission will eventually understand that agreements of this nature don't pass, even remotely, the requirements set by EU law and the EU Court rulings.

@sarahdalgulls The sailboats are damaged when the animals hit the rudder, which is suspended at the rear bottom of the hull, attached by a steel bar crossing the boat vertically by the interior and ending at the helm. Any impact to the rudder could cause damage to the area around the point of entry of the rudder in the hull, this damage causes the water to enter inside the boat, this happened only 3 times and sinking took many hours. It's not an attack to the boat iself.
