Three Brothers and Bridalveil
One of my favorite vistas in Yosemite Valley is the tunnel view. Especially on days like the day I captured this image. We had camped in the valley the previous night and it snowed most of the night.

@medley56 She's trained not to jump up on counters/tables/etc and she never does when people are watching. But the millisecond you step out of the room -- even if she's sound asleep -- she makes her move. She's too smart for her own good!

@ferricoxide She jumps over 36" tall kid/critter gates.
She jumps in, steals something and then jumps out, in one fell swoop. She's a VERY athletic puppy!

Bernedoodle puppy, Anni, is going on 8 months now. She's 44 lbs and tall enough to snatch anything within about 16" from the edge of any counter top or table. She is a very accomplished, stealth and sneaky counter surfer! On the upside, when she steals something, she proudly brings it to you. Had that not been the case, all of my wooden cooking utensils would be slivers by now.

She's also an excellent swimmer and loves launching herself into the pool, running at full tilt. So much for having a glass of wine with your feet dipped in the pool... 🐶💦

Anni the Bernedoodle is now 40 lbs and 7 months old. And she’s always contorted or twisted in some weird way. It’s just how she rolls… :)

Since the early 2000s, the nonprofit Global Footprint Network has calculated what it calls “Earth Overshoot Day,” the date on which we outstrip our resources each year. At present, human society consumes resources at a rate that would take 1.75 Earths to sustain.

So, from August 1 of this year onward, everything we consume adds to our collective debt. In the language of ecological economists: We’re in overshoot.

In reality, the Earth does not reset each year. Overshoot is more like charging groceries to a credit card after you already blew your monthly budget. It can’t go on forever. Eventually, those bills come due.

The debt we accrue manifests in three main ways: Waste accumulates, resources deplete, and ecosystems degrade. As these impacts grow, Earth’s ability to regenerate diminishes — what that means in the long run remains unclear, but it seems likely that the consequences will grow more severe as our debts mount.

Update on my Bernedoodle pup: Anni is now 6 months old and weighs 40 lbs. She's outgrown biting me, but still jumps all over me when reunited (even after just 15 minutes.) All her crazy puppy energy seems to come out during those moments. Although she's getting much better, being apart seems to bring on a zoomie psychosis and all of the puppy in her. And yeah, I know that's a horrible habit, but in one sense, it's kinda nice to be loved liked that...

@MsMerope I worked at Site 300 (Lawrence Livermore Lab) and you are correct. From Patterson Pass to Del Puerto canyon, there is a tremendous “wind tunnel” effect! Plus, downslope fire tends to move VERY quickly!
Hopefully, 580, I5, the California aqueduct and Delta Mendota canals will serve as firebreaks. And thankfully, wind velocity today is much lower than yesterday…

If you are not from the area and are wondering why this fire spread like it did....
The area the fire is burning in is a notorious wind tunnel. There are quite a few wind farms in that area. And a day *without* wind is a rare event.
Combine that with dry, tall grasses and yeah... 12,000acres in under 24 hours.

Anni the Bernedoodle is 3 months old and now weighs in at 20lbs. She’s biting and jumping up a bit too much, but she’s getting a lot better. Still an endless bundle of energy! :)
