Waaay back around 1992, I had to read "A Good Man is Hard to Find" in school. It stuck with me and I always told myself I should try to read more Flannery O'Connor sometime. Never did. But I recently found this in the 50 cent bin at the book store! What a bargain!

Found Elon's inspiration for the Cybertruck. Charlie Sheen's 1986 movie The Wraith, in which an angel comes down from heaven to avenge his death by racing cars and then, I guess, takes his living girlfriend up to heaven?
A silhouette of The Wraith standing with his car that is almost identical in shape to a Tesla Cybertruck.

Security definitely did a double take when it came out of the scanner.

I took a $50 point and shoot camera to Disney World a couple months back. Love the way these came out.

Like a lot of other folks, I got a glimpse of the Northern Lights this week. My teens were freaking out. It's nice that with all our technology and access to knowledge that even teenagers can be awestruck by the awesomeness of the natural world.

When I was about a year old, my uncle had tickets to see Elvis. Unfortunately, The King left the building the day before. When we were cleaning out my grandmother's house last year, I found this in a cupboard over the stove. Not only does is it a cool bit of musical history, but with my uncle and grandparents all gone now, it's a sweet little momento.

Best thing I saw on my trip to Indianapolis? This painting by Pamela Bliss. I should probably try to see more local art on these work trips this year.

Okay, I know I don't NEED any movie on VHS, but some things...it just seems right. So getting these for $1 each was worth it. Dogma on DVD... That was a necessity and a good find at $25.

I was in Portland, Oregon for work last week. It didn't suck. Still not as good as Portland, Maine though. #Portland #MtHood #MultnomahFalls #VistaHouse #CrownPoint

This would be incredible. So it is unlikely to happen.

Flogging Molly - Drunken Lullabies (2002)

It's crazy to think that this album is over 20 years old at this point. FM's crowning achievement. If this was the only album they ever made, they'd still be one of my favorite bands. This pressing is kind of shitty sounding, but some albums you just have to own.

Ivy - Apartment Life (1997)

Kind of forgot I had pre-ordered this album until it showed up today. Early in the pandemic, we lost Adam Schlesinger and I can truly say that it hit me harder than any other celebrity death ever has. Recently my 16yo realized that not all kids know Fountains of Wayne outside of "Stacie's Mom" and she freaked out. She's grown up hearing them and thought everyone knew their songs...so I guess I've done something right.

I'm going to try to turn her on to this album now because it fucking rules and I think she'll be into it.

The Tragically Hip - Road Apples (1991)

Came across this at an antiques store this weekend. I tried to tell myself I didn't need it, but I obviously lost that argument. My first exposure to The Hip was with the 1994 album Day For Night, acquired through Columbia House for a penny. Woefully underappreciated (if even known) by American audiences. I'd even include myself in that. Like I usually only listen to them when something specifically prompts me, but I am never let down.

Great band. Great album.

After a night at the casino, the best way to spend your $20 in winnings is at a truck stop diner for breakfast! Eggs, pancakes, coffee. Brought home an amazing blueberry pie, too.

Had to make the drive up to our cabin this weekend. It's about 2.5-3 hours each way. The sun was shining, it was quiet and peaceful, and I'd never seen the lake drained before. Walking around where they kids usually swim was cool. Realized I was wearing a brown coat with white fur-looking collar and it was the last day of hunting season, soooo...didn't hang around long. 😄

Everything in the last pic up to the tree line is usually underwater!
