We need an #AIhate hash tag for the anti-tech bros to vent without contaminated the feed.

They are still tech bros, same opinionated view believing that they are right, same "it doesn't work for me so it won't work for anyone" nativity - just from a different tribe.

No matter what they vent about, there are a lot more people who find AI useful, and the world will move on and continue the development of AI.

They don't have to use AI, but I hope they at least have the decency to use a hash tag to talk only to their fellows in the bubble.

@eli I think people can set whatever they want as a warning.

There is a huge echochamber of here.

I normally block anyone unironically using or linking to the .

Meanwhile, I'm quite happy with my video editing script that sends 10 seconds at a time to the bot and outputs when {thing} appears in frames.

Same logic applies for people who hate AI. If you hate AI but yet are using it very much, then there's no point. You must boycott it if you really hate it or at least use it as less as you can.

FCK CPS is well known.

I propose FCK SLP - "fuck slop".
Whether somebody posts text, visual or other slop - fuck that and fuck them.

@cy

Oh. I totallly am on your side of the barricade.

I am just slightly ahead of the game (as usual). I have done all my anti-AI anxiety back in 2023.

People were literally laughing at me when I was talking about dangers of #AI

But since then I am actually doing something meaningful to mitigate AI impact (#RegulateAI).
Ai is a left vs righ issue and I am on the left of Trotsky.

I do not have much time for folks who are 'anti-ai' and yet know next to zero about how these systems work and what they can do. Though I do read their comments and occasionaly engage with them.

I was brouoght up in an occupied nation, and when I did not want to learn the language of the occupier, our teacher (bless her courageous heart) said "You need to know the language of your enemy".

Everyone needs to learn about #AI, as this is how they will lose their jobs, their democracy and possibly their lives...

... you need to learn MORE about AI if you hate AI. Because frankly, most neo-luddites do themselves disservice.
You need to sound credible to be impactful. Otherwise you are just yelling into the echo chamber.

Speaking of meaningful action...
(short of torching the data centres and I only see stupid anti-AI memes not angry mobs)... if you live in #Australia and #AIHate

The productivity commision is asking for public comments in the interim report: pc.gov.au/inquiries/current/da

Scope:
💀 Enable AI's productivity potential

▶️ New pathways to expand data access

▶️ Supporting safe data access and use through outcomes-based privacy regulation

▶️ Enhance reporting efficiency, transparency and accuracy through digital financial reporting.

Opinion:
Ignoring question of reasoning ability (nb: something o3 seems to have just cracked)

The collective "we" seem to believe the #AI models we play with are crap because;

I) They have so many guardrails that to visualise, the model is
like a beast with a muzzle on its maw.

ii) Most models have limited impermanent memory, as little as 4000 tokens ("words")
Though some models are reputed to have hundreds of thousands of tokens per session.
But I'm happy to place a bet, that most of the #aihate folk whoe "evaluated" AIs, would never pay a cent to the "AI bros" for an actual better model that the sideshow booth attraction that the demo models are.

iii) The models have no long term (inter session memory).

iv) The models have no live internet connection

v) The models have no agency. No ability to execute tasks to accomplish its goals. You could argue it's just another guardrail, but this extends to purposeful design so the models have no ability to self-propagate or auto-modify.

vi) The models have no ability to spawn multiple instances and task each one with mission specific configurations.

Remove all of these ARTIFICIAL CONSTRAINTS. Not limited by the design shortcomings but by resources and the desire not to kill all the humans...yet.
Remove all of these 6 artificial constraints...
...and if you have any sense of self preservation, the hair on the back of your neck ought to be standing up...
...right...
...about...
NOW.

#o3 model from Open #AI is now #superhuman (albeit by "only") a couple percent.

As evaluated by the ARC AI benchmark, expressly designed to be harder for AI and easier for humans.

So if you belong to the poorly informed group of #aihate, who believe that AI is a scam or that it's reached its peak or that it will never be useful...

...you need to muscle up... Because we are likely in the final years if not months of human supremacy.
Better start burning those data centres because soon you will be as smart as a chicken is comparing to a human in cognitive power 🤡

There is an upside, if you can call it that, the model "only" performs so well with massive compute...
This is only a problem (IMHO) If you think a F1 engine only outperforms a family sedan because of expensive engineering.

I am kinda on the Karmic side of #infotech

If you were lazy ok with corps eating all your data because #privacy was not your concern.

Or worse, were one of those Muppets who espoused "I have nothing to hide, so I have nothing to fear" and accepted ubiquitous #surveillance from your Government without any action on your part...

...you absolutely have no leg to stand on and get all squeally about #ai #generative #llm eating all your precious doodles and unpublishable writings you blogged.

You allowed this to happen by your inaction.

Just because you were unequipped to see the consequences, you were happy to abandon us, who tried to hold the thin red line against the #dataabuse.

I looked over my shoulder, and there was no one behind us.
These things do not happen overnight and if we had strong regulatory regime, we would not be here now.
Instead the public stampeded into the cloud and big data like farm animals to slaughter.

@sunfish

I was an early tech adopter all my life.
Calculators, Home computers, BBS, The internet, Email, Search engines, Email.

All my life I heard a similar refrain of people dismissing new tech for very good reasons.
I remember being openly laughed at by my social circle of "cool friends" for using a cell phone.

You already are using AI, hope you're skipping that first paragraph Google search returns to you.

The time for action against LLM is past.
I know this because when I tried, all the way thru 2023. Guess what? I was laughed at!
For writing letters to politicians and senate enquiries.
When I said in a party room, AI will bring 80% unemployed, they were cackling.

IMHO The only rational choice we have is to enjoy the few years we have left and embrace the tech, because it is empowering.

I'm not condemning your stand, in fact I respect it greatly. That does not change the fact that it's not unlike that of the Amish. Quaint.
Respect.

I 'wrote' a little #bash #ai script.

Syntax;

halp.sh "prompt" filename.ext

Will run the filename.ext thru #ai.
eg;
halp.sh "what's this trash do?" config.php

Will give you an AI opinion.
If you include "fix" or "repair" in the prompt, the Moloch will do it's best to 'fix' the file and will output a "filename.ext.ai"

It gives you a cost at the end, so far most of my tests were under 0.002c

⚠️Caveats;
1) Don't use it in production, it may well burn your house down.
B) You need #Anthropic API key (as little as U$10)
iii) Do not feed the Moloch sensitive data like your API keys, hard coded passwords (!) or sensitive config or personal data.

This is just a toy, please the #aihate mob, don't stone me.

I've read a lot of #aihate, and I feel compelled to indicate to people. AI isn't taking your job. Greedy CEOs are.

AI is a bunch of tensors and some dot product math. Some rich asshat feels that combination is good enough excuse to fire you. Just like the concept of copy and paste layers in Photoshop was good enough excuse to fire a bunch of airbrush artists. Or how Just a bunch of someone else's computer called a cloud was justification to fire a bunch of local admins.
