**Capitalism and solidarity rant.**
Just did a small shop at Aldi.
And not for the first time found myself marvelling/fuming at how we customers passively accept the conversion of our time into Aldi profits. And rush to make it even better for them, and shame those going too slow!!
We've all been there....
Dozens of people lining up at the one staffed check-out till they reluctantly open another. Great.
You finally get to the front and the check-out person scans things at a million miles an hour onto a small space unable to hold all your things.
The intent is to force you to:
- waste your time and make you wait till they are good and ready to staff another check-out
- push you through this gate as quickly as possible, like sheep up a race, and
- use the peer pressure from the customers/sheep behind you to not put your things neatly into your bag the first time, (rush! rush!) but to double handle your stuff back into the basket and pack your things elsewhere.
Your time = Aldi profits
Question - How do we organise a collective 'go slow' at the #Canberra Civic #Aldi check-outs to let them know we are onto them, are jack of it, and to let comrades and fellow shoppers pack their things with dignity, and without rushing?
