Honored. Inspired. Driven.

Last week at #CSUN2025, we had the incredible opportunity to connect, learn, and grow alongside some of the most innovative minds in accessibility and assistive technology. As a fully remote team, gathering in person is always meaningful, but being part of conversations that shape the future of our technology makes it even more special.

We’re grateful for the chance to hear from industry leaders, learn from fellow innovators, and connect with Explorers (both new and those who have been here from the start) who shape the work we do every day. Having a seat at this table is an honor, and we’re more committed than ever to making Aira the best it can be.

Thank you, Center on Disabilities at CSUN, for another unforgettable year!

From the Rundown #AI newsletter: Use #google app, but switch to #gemini before taking a snapshot of something that needs repair, and then ask how to fix.

A great #adaptivetech use case for those of us who struggle to translate visual info into words. Now we can just take a pic!

The Rundown: Recently, Google has integrated Gemini into its mobile apps. Having Gemini in your pocket can simplify the process of obtaining answers, suggestions, and instructional videos for simple household repair projects.

Open the Google mobile app (iOS or Android) and switch to Gemini at the top.

Capture a photo of the object that requires repair. Provide a description of the problem and ask for suggestions on how to fix it.

You can ask additional questions based on the response to resolve the problem. If you've enabled the YouTube extension, try asking Gemini for YouTube videos that could assist with the repair.

🛠️ Adaptive technology helps users overcome specific challenges. Examples: text-to-speech software (e.g., NaturalReader, ReadSpeaker), alternative input devices, and hearing aids like ReSound. #AdaptiveTech #Empowerment #Disability

Attention Android Users,

As of today our original Aira app, called Aira Legacy, has been removed from the Google Play store. You can still use the legacy app but you will no longer be able to download it.

We encourage you to download our new mobile app, Aira Explorer in the Google Play store and coming soon to iOS. Want to learn more? Go to aira.io/app.

Question about usage from someone who knows little:
Can you set custom sounds for characters? For instance, could one choose to replace the text for an emoji like 🎉 with a sound effect instead?
