@silveraura7 So the resources I’d recommend are: Babbel, coffee Break French which has a free podcast, Rocket Languages, French pod101 from Innovative Languages, French with Alexa, French Uncovered from Olly Richards. None of these are free, but they have accessible PDFs or apps or something. Others have mentioned other stuff too. It is bewildering to me how many #blind people share content that they've copied from another source without fixing up issues with #screenReader readability. The latest example is an email starting with 13 lines—for NVDA and Chrome at least—of silent unicode characters at the beginning.

Actually, it's confusing why so many blind people copy and republish content from other sources rather than linking to the original, but that's a separate conversation.

New #accessibility rollout from #Slack: simplified layout mode in the desktop app.

From the blog post[1], simplified layout mode "helps you focus by showing one section of Slack at a time," and "minimizes distractions which may benefit single-taskers and people using assistive technology."

This was originally built to "make Slack easier to use for #eyeTracking and #headMouse users," but has since been determined to also benefit "other switch users as well as: #screenReader users (by reducing the amount of stuff on screen at once), #neurodivergent people who find Slack overwhelming or distracting, and even people with limited screen real estate."[2]

Hey guys, I'm starting to get my feet wet as a totally blind player in the D&D realm and could use some help finding screenreader friendly ways to create a character sheet and keep track of everything. I've found a lot of things on Google that give links to resources to, as an example, excel templates for character building, but a lot of these don't work anymore. Trying this again, since I got no answers last time, and only one confirmation that I'm not alone in seeing this behaviour:
For whatever reason, the JAWS "Check For Updates" menu option under the Help menu is always unavailable when running Windows and JFW in a virtual machine on a Qemu-KVM hypervisor.
What I'd love to know is if anyone knows if this is a bug or feature? If bug, is FS even aware of it? Any planned fixes? I tried to contact FS on this and got about as much as I expected, nothing.
If a feature, does anyone understand the rationale of making JFW automatic Updates unavailable on virtual machines?
