An excellent episode about the mental health challenges of dealing with sight loss and blindness.

I especially connected with: feeling isolated in a social gathering or event.

"Shaun and Kayaker have a candid talk with Sally, a Person Centered Counselor, who holds a Masters in Counseling about mental health with blindness and vision loss. The threesome shares some personal stories with a bit of humor and how they try to cope with blindness each day, and sometimes fail."

@DavidGoldfield I have a curious question.
What, if anything, can those of us in the #Blind & #LowVision community do to persuade #Microsoft to fix the issue of #Voiceover not speaking tab names in the tab viewer in Edge on iOS? They broke it a few years ago, fixed it with the next update, broke it again with the update immediately following that one & have yet to fix it again. I've reported it numerous times. I'm using @brave at the moment & love it, but would much rather use Edge.
Any advice?

@overholt

I attended a school for #blind and #LowVision students for grades 8-10.

We had large, wooden #topographic and #Political maps of #Europe and the #USA. They were basically giant #puzzles.

Europe was made/acquired between #WWI and #WWII. In ninth grade, our World History teacher would sometimes quiz us. This why I can identify #Latvia, #Estonia, and #Lithuania. Same teacher read us All Quiet on the Western Front, and shared this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_Fueh.

As it is the start of the month I shall do some shameless promoting of ourblind.com/ for all the #blind, #deafblind, #lowvision, and #visuallyimpaired people around. @main @mastoblind

I am working on creating a handbook that describes the assistive technologies available in the FreeBSD operating system, which will be freely available online for anyone to consult. Currently, the effort is focused on gathering and documenting accessibility features for visual impairments, and it is sponsored by the @FreeBSDFoundation

If you are interested in the topic, a public repository is available for suggestions and corrections: gitlab.com/alfix/freebsd-acces

Screenshot of the "FreeBSD Accessibility Handbook" webpage. The page is part of the official FreeBSD documentation site and includes the title, copyright information (© 2025 The FreeBSD Foundation), and an abstract. The abstract welcomes readers and explains that the handbook covers assistive technologies available in FreeBSD. It is described as a work in progress, with suggestions and feedback encouraged. The page also notes that the handbook can be downloaded in various formats from FreeBSD servers. On the left side, a navigation menu lists chapters such as Help, Virtual Terminal, Colors, Low Vision, Blindness, Desktop Environments, and Development.
