From what I've read of #AllenCarr, the approach has a lot of similarities to CBT. I recognise some of the logical processes from when I did my phobia therapy. Which went great btw!
It's strange how we hold onto fear as though it's our friend. Like I held onto my blood test #phobia. Giving up an addiction or safety behaviour can be scary. #StopSmoking

I'm reading #AllenCarr's The Nicotine Conspiracy. It's a really good insight into how little motivation there is to encourage smokers to give up nicotine. Cigarettes, sure. But nicotine, no. They like to keep you addicted. You wouldn't say an alcoholic is in recovery if they were using a patch that fed ethanol directly into their bloodstream. But delivering nicotine via a patch or vape is considered a victory.
Quando deixei de fumar em 2006 pensei que não ia aguentar-me, mas consegui. Espero que mais pessoas passem a acreditar. Resistir hoje será mais difícil devido ao marketing e novas ofertas que passam por mais benignas. O custo dos medicamentos não ajuda.
Felizmente, para mim bastou um livro depois de umas tentativas frustradas a recorrer a discos de nicotina. Se ajudar, o livro foi Easyway - O Método Fácil para Deixar de Fumar de #AllenCarr.
