Have you ever wondered about organ donation, or the history of cataract surgeries; maybe how ostomies work, or how gender affirming surgeries are done? Chapters 5 and 6 – the vagina and penis, respectively – were the most enlightening for me. (Especially the candid look at the arrogance and ignorance of surgeons and the unintended consequence of the same with regard to gender affirming surgeries – know your options!)

I largely agree with the #politics of the person I blocked today, but being American, even his #leftism is tainted by the undercurrent of "fuck anybody but me" that flows underneath all of American culture. Thus he literally preferred losing an ally permanently to ...

If you're someone who is trying to be there for an abuse survivor and you said stuff like this? Don't worry. You can apologise and repair the relationship if there was damage.

In fact, proving that apologising is possible and not a power play and not a big deal or an injury to your pride, and that relationships can be developed, strengthened and even repaired? That is one of THE most powerful things you can do for a survivor!

The worst wounds that abuse inflicts is by hurting relationships and by teaching unhealthy dynamics and attitudes, like entitlement, as the supposed norm. It is easy to disprove that just by being a friend, a flawed messy HUMAN BEING who doesn't need either of us to be perfect.

The Killer of Hundreds and the Killer of None met to resolve their differences.

The value of a human life cannot be negotiated away. There is no compromise to be made in the matter of who I will stand with. I will always use my privilege as a tool for good.

I think it's fantastic, it reminds me again of the Cyberiad, in that this creature looks like a sentient intelligence, maybe a cyborg and a desert dweller. Its posture is more careful openness than mindless violence. I think that this is an ally on our quest through the desert or whatever. He will show us where the fortress is, but won't go in 🤣
